I just went once before arriving in Japan last year. Tried to get out a fair bit though around Gifu and into Nagano. Great times.

I saw on tv last night that Hokkaido is hoping for a summer tourism boom this year as people escape the hot cities to get out to cool areas, especially as we will all be in power saving mode. Sounds like an idea to me.

If I were able to choose 2 weeks, I wouldn't care!!! Jealous of people taking that much time off. But yes January would seem to be the pick.

I had a visit to Zao planned for the week after the quake, so that was squashed obviously. Was really looking forward to that. Oh well, next year.
