davidnoble 0
Did some research middle of last year and Samsung was and probably is the brand of choice if you want a smart TV. LG, Panasonic and Sony would appear to be the next best. Ended up with a UA55ES6200. It's a beauty but the mistake I made was to save $200 and miss out on the Dual Core. grungy-gonads 54
I'm still not getting this "smart" thing. What exactly does a "smart" tv do that a "non smart" one doesn't?
Alexander L 80
First difference was to go online, sos you could watch youtube and the like. Now the definition of smart has been hi-jacked by Samsung. Their Smart TVs follow you around the room and wait for you to gesticulate your command.
pie-eater 207
but seriously, what do they do.

grungy-gonads 54
Bet Youtube clips look really great on a 4K/Ultra HD tv.
Alexander L 80
HD youtube would surely be OK.
pie-eater 207
Ace. I really look forward to being able to watch YouTube on my Ultra HD tv http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EodolCg1ACQ
Alexander L 80
stuck my nose upto a 65 incher and then a 47 incher. The smaller screen looked much smoother.

SheldonB 0
Tempted, but I think I will wait until 2nd gen.
Alexander L 80
Yes but how long to wait. Itching for a 4K.
scouser 4
Revisions within model numbers happen don't they, to bring in efficiencies and stamp out issues. Just don't get the very first batch is perhaps wise.
pie-eater 207
Some geeks writing this one off for it's lack of HDMI 2 and the newer wireless standard? I have no idea the implications there, but thought I'd pass it on.
pie-eater 207
Only problems now are the fact that it's not H.265 capable and HDMI 2.0 isn't here either. Without them, it's not a fully formed product. But if money's no object, it's a hell of a product. Easily the best Sony TV ever made.
Alexander L 80
Hold on, its got HDMIx6
634-maru 4
It might have 6 HDMI connections. But it doesn't support HDMI 2.0. Sharp have announced a 60" and 70" Ultra HD Aquos set too. Looks tasty.

Alexander L 80
Look out. Sony are pulling out of making mediocre to cheap TVs. They're gonna concentrate on the top end models.
