thursday 1
If it was known to everybody, they'd need a bigger room for the museum. It'll be chaos.
muikabochi 208
You are surely right. I actually found it quite interesting that little place. Like I said worth stopping for a few minutes to take a look.

muikabochi 208
Rob, in that little museum-style room thingy on the expressway, on the model, there was no sign of funny attacking plant thingies. I think it might be safe.
RobBright 35
Hey, Mario never though he'd be attacked by one either did he?
muikabochi 208
I don't suppose he did.
HighlyTrainedNovaTeacher 2
What are those things anyway, plant or animal?

SKI 15
They should really update the info in the museum though to warn of the dangers. Next season someone please ski down there and check it out. You can walk back up no problem if you are man enough.
skidaisuki 0
You're probably right in your identification of it - but it's also quite likely some politician got bribed a few years back and managed to get the goverment to pay hundreds of millions of yen to local construction firms to built some meaningless lump of concrete in the middle of pristine mountain countryside just for the hell of it... ...that's an explanation of Japan's rural economy for anyone not familiar with the situation! What country could've spent more on tunneling than Japan? Still, when I go through the tunnel to Echigo Yuzawa on the shinkansen, I guess I'm grateful for it. SdS
Tubby Beaver 209
Yeah, Japan's tunnelling abilty is phenomenal

muikabochi 208
This Kanetsu tunnel connecting Yuzawa and Minakami is the longest road tunnel in Japan I believe at just over 11km. Indeed one of the longest in the world.
RobBright 35
Been through some tunnel connecting GUNMA and NAGANO - took about 10mins to drive though.

RobBright 35
Um lemme check photos. Went to Ueda last October from Tokyo and had to drive along kan'etsu and another road.
SKI 15
On the Joshinetsu? A few tunnels but nowhere near as long as the Shimizu tunnel from Yuzawa<>Mimakami.
