I love that pic. When I saw it on here a few months ago, I grabbed it and stuck it on my desk top. I like the fact that it looks like a copy of a scan of a fax of a newspaper pic. The other reason it's cool is cause it IS a J dude. Most J folks I come across seem to think that only a foreigner would do something that crazy. I like the pic coz it says: "Nope. It's not a gene thing. You guys can do that shit too."

sounds like some good things coming, where is the terrain park going to be? Any hints on what might be included in it? Any deals on the first tracks for season pass holders? Anyway, good luck on it all...

Love the H'yama site and looking forward to see how their plan goes for this season.

Any tequila or huevos rancheros for brekky in the new cafe?

Have to agree with JL Poutine about the irony of it all though. I guess if that's the case, won't be long till be see some more tours from Cenny Hokkaido I guess - way to cash-in!

Then the new format came in, censorship of journals, don't get me started....

Don't get you started?

What exactly are you accusing us of 'changing' - apart from perhaps starting a system where we had to approve journals before they went online (mostly in order to stop the increase of spam that we were experiencing) and also not allowing journals that were full of swearing and bad language?

OK I have looked over our records.

Here's what we changed:

1

Previously journals were posted instantly when people submitted them. But we were suddenly seeing a fair amount of spam (viagra, pharmacuticals, etc) being posted up there. Obviously that is not good and so the only way to prevent that was to make it so that we had to "approve" journals before they appeared online - just like we have to approve new members on these Forums before they can post. So we implemented that system.

2

There was a (small) number of people posting excessive swearing and bad language and frankly stuff that did not make any sense at all. We were getting a lot of feedback from other people about this and we were thinking the same. We simply do not want that kind of thing to be published on our site. If people want to write content like that, there are plenty of places online where they can do that and we invite them to go to those places.

>>>>>>>>>

We have detailed records of everything that we edit or delete, both on the Forums and on the main site. We have records of what was posted, who posted it, what was edited/deleted, why any action was taken, who did it, when they did it and any email responses that came in. It's quite thorough. Happily we do not edit or delete much at all, and so there isn't much. We do this so that we have that record and can review things and confidently defend our actions if people accuse us of whatever (which sometimes unfortunately happens). It often borders on the amusing how some people remember things rather differently from how they actually happened (as per the facts in front of us).

I have just been looking at the very few journals that were edited or not approved over the last few years. In each case it was an easy decision and I would do exactly the same today as was done back then.

So unless you wish to accuse us of anything else, perhaps this thread could get back on topic?

Apologies for getting off topic, my misunderstanding, and I'm not trying to throw accusations around...

I just remember how stoked some guys I knew were about the site (back in the day), and then suddenly they started talking about how they were 'over it' as far as posting journals went because some of their journals weren't approved.

I guess it takes (took) a little away from being able to keep a totally 'personal' record of their seasons/experiences - which were always related to their winter season - and which had received happy/positive feedback from other SJ'ers in the past.

Sorry for getting under your collar there - not intended.

I am simply responding to your "new format... censorship of journals... don't get me started" comment.

Many people read these posts and we do not wish for them to get the wrong impression about this site and the way it is run.

I do not know who your friends are and the specific instances you refer to, but if anyone decides to not post on SnowJapan because some of their journals were not approved for the reasons I mentioned in the above post (#243320), then that is just fine with us.

Thanks.

wow, think a few people need to relax, throw in Cheech and Chong, then maybe a TGR vid, grab a brewski, and get ready for the season....

Just wondering if someone knew where the terrain park at Higashiyama will be - at the bottom, hopefully above the flat traverse? Trying to get it back on topic for you Mr. SJ moderator...
