AK 77 0
I don't disagree! I just point out that money is hardly the prime motivation for people to be here, and (to get back on topic) that NOVA teachers are hardly cash rich, unless they were in rural locations, very frugal or exremely anti-social. Still am kind of glad such a crappily-run company went down the pan.
Tubby Beaver 209
Yeah AK I agree, what i have found since returning after a 3 year break was that prices here really haven't got any higher and the pay is the same but the Pound has went astronomical so when I convert back or send money home I am getting killed. It was 186 when I first came out here, now its nearer 245, damn that strong pound!! I wouldn't mind trying a more rural location its just convincing my missus!! TBH where I live is hardly down town Tokyo and I'm on the beach which is great and things aren't that expensive, I just need to get my socialising in order, start cutting back on going out drinking all the time!! Yuki's Passion 1
Nova Prez still unable to be located thats cuz hes prolly sitting on a beach in Thailand, or his body is rotting away somewhere....
gerard 6
The image of saddam getting pulled out of that hole in the ground comes to mind. Anybody with photoshop want to slap Sahashi's face in place of Saddam's? I'll give you five stars...
Tubby Beaver 209
I think that finding the teachers work should be a more pressing concern or at least getting them the money that they are due. Sure students also have a right but they haven't lost their job as a result of Nova's mismanagement.
indosnm 0
still some students paid up to 700,000 for lessons!!!
HighlyTrainedNovaTeacher 2
They probably knew how highly trained we were.

bobby12 0
Thats cool, nice idea to steal the mascot. I hope they find a sponsor and NOVA rises out the ashes with a totally different board and new philosophy to be a great school. But it'll never happen, can you imagine anyone giving them 70man in advance again?
2pints-mate 0
Whats the deal with this now... is there a chance of the schools opening up again soon or are all the employees out of a job?
bobby12 0
They are looking for a sponsor to keep going.
thursday 1
yeah, but are they still kepping going? doubtful.
samurai 0
met one of my old students from a few years ago at a party last night. He was bummed because he still has 5000 points available... which is essentially 5000 lessons already paid for. Poor guy. I'm sure it'll work out for him down the road, but that has to be frustrating too. It's interesting, there were 6 of us former teachers and staff at the party last night and 2 students. All of us teachers and staff quit years ago, but it was interesting that none of us were surprised at this collapse. We counted our blessings and recongized our luck, but none of us were surprised. Tubby Beaver 209
anyone heard any news on this, today was meant to be D-day for finding a sponsor
bobby12 0
i noticed there was a short thing on the news last night about it, but i couldnt catch what the point was. probably they didn't get the sponsor.
echineko 1
I don't think they did. My friend had paid nearly 80,000 yen with them.
thursday 1
well, workers losing their jobs is terrible, but students losing their hard earned money is much much worse. There's no chance of them getting their money back.
Tubby Beaver 209
Apparently there's to be some announcement on Friday. Nova managers had a meeting on Monday and the way I heard it was that things were now looking favourable, with 10 sponsors vying to take over and payment of staff wages being a condition of taking over. Thurs, I see it the other way, maybe because I know loads of NOVA teachers who haven't been paid, some for 2 months running
midnightcharger2 0
Wish the best for the Nova crew since I have many friends in a bad situation now. But, even if a sponsor is found, how many teachers / staff / students do you think would return to the prior schools, after such a downfall. Even if they were to restructure, would'nt people walking into the prior named Nova school no matter what its new name would be still see it as Nova? It's popular talk around these parts and not much if any is good talk from the locals. Will be one of those things to sit back and see how it plays out.
