veronica 2
Live food is not for me. I took a look at that video. Cutting up a fish, frying it - being careful to keep it alive - then put it on a plate and cover it with sauce and salad with the thing gasping for breath? That doesn't seem right to me and I would walk out.
1 4
I had a dream where some big alien came down picked up a live fish eating human and did the same for them. They didn't like it - shouting about their freedoms and rights whilst gasping covered with garnish and other big aliens came to eat a chunk of their exposed thigh.

muikabochi 208
I understood it. I'm quite smart though. Does the 30 seconds make any difference Indosnm in the "freshness" thing?
ausi ski bum 1
I get quite disturbed watching Iron Chef when they have live fish or lobster etc and they carve it up alive, I would rather they killed it first. Personally I like my food cooked so alive would never work for me. On Miyajima Island in January we stayed at the Grand hotel and we had our first full Japanese banquet. We were brought this amazing basket of sashimi and we tried a few things but raw fish is just un-Australian so they brought us these heated rocks in baskets and we cooked the fish on them. OK most of you would think that was just wrong but we really enjoyed the experiance after that. The rest of the meal presented a number of challenges for us but it was an incredable experiance

bushpig 0
Indeed! Nah ASB, I hate raw oysters too, but plenty of people love them in Aus. It's hardly un-Australian to eat things raw!
indosnm 0
I can't get enough of Raw oysters. Got most of my raw fish on tap here but oysters is the one thing I'm missing.

indosnm 0
The ones we get from there in Adelaide aren't that big. My Rellies lived out at Streaky and used to bring back massive ones back from a mate who was a farmer. On a trip back to adeliade he gave them 20 dozen! Alot of aphrodesiac! on the subject of oysters, did anyone read about the Viagra oysters?

BagOfCrisps 24
I saw a programme last night about strange foods around the world. They showed some Koreans eating live octupussies (octopies?) It looked beyond awful. They wrapped the thing round some chopsticks and then ate it. (What no ketchup??) Supposededly some people die because the octopus is wriggling about and I suppose hanging on to life. (Inconsiderate bastard, that's what I say). All seems strange to me. I'll stick to the pie and crisps.
thursday 1
still no word on the viagra oysters then.
