Wizz 11
Anyone else interested and getting excited about the World Cup? Check out Sky Perfect channel 140 if you have it - they are running lots of matches and anaylsis programes before the tournament starts. Some interesting stuff on there. cal 6
Looking forward to it. Lots of injuries going on in many of the teams. Lets hope that all the best players can actually get here before anything else.
oo 1
I always love looking forward to the "new star" the World Cup always brings out, ala Owen in France.
cal 6
Oh yeah, here's one: Can someone tell me why the WC is being held right in the middle of the rainy season. Did they not think of that?
grungy-gonads 54
Did you see that result from yesterday? Germany 0 - 1 Wales Germany must be more demoralised than an extremely demoralised team.
cal 6
Saw that on CNN last night - that is a seriously bad result, they must be feeling very down about that. But Germany have not been on good form the last few years, sure that few expect them to be real contenders in the WC

Did they not think of that? While good teams need decent pitches not ploughed fields to perform well, overly restricting the conditions will restrict who can host the World Cup. As a parallel, the Sydney "Summer" Olympics were held in September, autumn for much of the Northern Hemisphere but early spring for Oz, I believe. Human rights issues aside, the Olympics in China look like a nightmare with the heat, pollution and dust there in the summer. Obviously the Olympics and World Cup are hypercommercial, but if the idea is for lots of different countries to have a go, you have to make allowances. Later in the Japanese summer would mean temperatures and humidity that strongly favour the Latin American teams. The European teams may be better off with the rain.

frannyo 2
England Korea game last night? First half looked solid. Second half - hmmm. Too many changes in the team. Those Koreans can go fast.
scouser 4
Not impressed. The first half was OK, but as you said above too many subs coming on to make for a decent game. Not a World Cup winning performance, but then again this was a friendly and we were without "The Right Foot". Hargreaves played well. And of course, Owen got the goal, messy looking as it was. scouser 4
KEANE BOOTED OUT OF IRISH WORLD CUP SQUAD http://www.itv-worldcup.co.uk/ Interesting stuff this one....
NoFakie 45
A lot of previous between McCarthy/Irish FA and Keano by the sounds. Before Keano complained, they all used to fly cattle class (economy). Just like a school trip. He's obviously a difficult bugger, but he takes his football seriously. I hope that Swedish bloke landed a few good ones on Freddie Ljundberg. It's not fair only England having no fit midfielders.
yodel 0
Its a bit of a shocker, ain't it this Keene business. Wonder what really went on

big-will 7
Go to http://www.virginradio.co.uk/onair/listen/index.html and you can get virgin radio on your PC. If you have ADSL it should be non-interupted. Kickoff is at 2:30 (in 15 minutes) and they promise to cover the game. That's probably the best you can get.
