  1. Sorry EWOK! You a girl? Yes I am a Mama - to 4 boys

It would certainly be an opportunity to make some close friends for life - either that or be on trial for murder
  3. This is the one I have: Mine cost $20 - but of course I bought it at a Travel store in Claremont - should have hot footed it to Wellington Surplus!! Maybe I will for the replacement one! World Travellers Plug Set Editted to add: Having just gone and checked my 2 sets I a pleased to say that this SMART little girl has TOSSED the j-plug that was dodgy in China, and so I do not need to scratch my head wondering which one works and which one doesn't! YAY for being organised. Now to source a replacement. With a laptop, video camera, a mobile phone, 4 pic camera's, and 4 game boys to
  4. Well for the blokes it wouldn't be too hard - empty out a water bottle or two and you are good to go. For the girls....not so easy!
  5. OK guys. I bought a fantastic adaptor in Perth for the last trip to Niseko. Fantastic why? It is a MULTI adaptor. Pretty much one of the 5 little adaptors that make it up will work in whatever country you are in. I bought 2 of this type as well as the standard large Jap-Aus plugs. Where this came in handy was with the items that used 3 pins rather than 2. All the j-a plugs accepted only 2 pin aussie plugs - that is great except we had things with 3 pins. The way the other one works allows that 3rd pin (the earth) to be sitting free. I used them in China recently and I think
  6. Long hair is great - been my choice for WAY more years than not...However it can be a lot of work. I wash my hair everyday, and in winter it can be a pain to get dry every morning. I had to make the change to washing and drying AFTER my session on the snow before the evening meal rather than in the morning - that was a psychological barrier!! Also had drama's lately because of the chlorine as I have been swimming between 1 and 2 km's every day in the pool. My blonde and color treated hair did not like it very much. Solution: $90 worth of before swim and after swim products.
  7. Not so easy to run with small children... And we are often one of the last off planes coz they put all the kids near the back most often! <grr> But we are pretty seasoned at queues, and we have no deadlines - so we will be fine letting all you impatient young DINKS run for the top of the queue while the families with tired kids stand in line for hours... <slight tongue in cheek there> SOMEONE has to be at the back of the queue don't they?
  8. Our fave from Singa's was the Zoo. The kids might prefer that, especially being closer to the airport where you might be pushed for time.

Time to get some sleep - been awake for 22 hours. More news tomorrow! Cheers Al Hope they find your bag Al, Have a GREAT time!!
  10. I am giving hubby the box set of "Big Love" for Christmas - another interesting show - although it has nothing to do with this topic or thread, and the segue here was box sets.... I'll just go back to my bubbly bottle of veuve shall I? Note to self: Do not chat on forums after an all day party at your house...
  11. Mum's brilliant. My best friend. Mother in Law is certifiable (literally!).
  12. Someone we met there in April used this - he said that it runs in 1 hr blocks. **So if you go through the gate at 9am and it doesn't register you for the rest of the day you are deducted 1 hr. **If you go through at 9am and then keep doing runs one after the other and the last time through the gate onto the lift is say 1.20pm, then you will be deducted 9 - 2pm (5hrs). **His opinion was that he milked it as much as possible making sure that his last run up was just within the last hr, and then take his time on the way down - stop for a bite to eat - blah blah. We are considering it

  14. It is not just the noobs...my biggest concern is the kids. They don't really get the importance of looking both ways before they cross the street, they don't check expiration labels before they chug back on the milk - AND they don't often hang on to thier boards when they clip in and out.... That's why I am sticking my 2 littlies in a LONG leash.
  15. No they are not - they are slimey, immoral schemers!
  16. Slackers is one thing, but scammers is what really gets up my nose. We own a business that employs about 60 people, and more than once we have been targetted and scammed by people who DO NOT want to work. One was a fake workers comp claim by a guy we KNEW before we hired him, who had previous back injury history, begged for the job and promised he would not make any claims regarding his back when hubby was no going to hire him ... so we gave him a shot. 4 days work and he has been on workers comp for the last 2 years! Another was a Uni Student on casual employment, he was askin
  17. I like vents, but my menfolk INSIST on vents. We are running quite a few different brands and type, but we need to get new pants for the 16yr old bear this year (he has grown) so will keep a close eye on this thread. His previous pants had a full length side zip so each leg could pretty much open up flat - great for drying!
  18. I am sure he is...(seems a real nice guy - which is why I would not mind having a lesson with him - if I was on ski's that is!!) I am just concerned about the number of brain farts I am having lately.... ummm does that mean I am ...getting..<shhhh> old...?
  19. Good luck Projectsplat! I still have a couple of weeks - so apart from buying a few extra items to take with us, I have not packed, checked the gear is clean OR fixed the delam in my kids board!!! AAHHHHHh!! Better get on to it! As for packages, our travel agent booked us into Thredbo in July (just me and Hubby) on a "package" - not a specific package, just went through the wholesaler - and it was trouble and extra expense from go to whoa. But we learnt enough that I spent about 5 hours on-line booking flights, cars, accomodation, lessons etc when we got home and had a FANTASTIC r

  21. Wooooohhh!!! That is tight - if the plane is late taking off from Aus, hits bad weather and is late getting in to Tokyo, if your bags are the last off the carousel, and if the queues are long because of printing - could all add up to drama. But there is not much you can about it is there? Do you have a back up plan so that in case the worst happens you don't melt down? I love the back up plan. Hubby and I travel with 4 kids - and we always take 'hiccups' in our stride - we are never rushed, screaming, or reduced to tears - no point really. But I have SEEN it happen to o
  22. okay okay...maybe *I* am just hyper-sensitive about the "fat" thing! Fair call!
