  1. Saw plenty of Brown bears in Hokkaido a couple of years ago in June when I was there. Mean looking creatures, but nice to see!
  2. No Japan is nothing like the UK, UK now is terrible, when I went back last year couldn't believe the number of cameras every few metres. They have them here in Japan mainly on the motorways, but not that many though, but in general easy to spot, as they are on the bridges. They occasionally have some hidden, but few and far between.
  3. For me also not in this particular order, but : Marunuma Kogen (went there last year was great) Zao (Not been there yet) Myoko Yuzawa Nakazato (various courses, and things for the whole family to do) Greenpia Tsunan (Not so big, but I like the terrain) Shiga And ones I will be doing for sure as they are on my doorstep, Koumi Riekkutsu, 15 mins from my house Nobeyama Tateshina How many I will actually go to remains to be seen, but this is my basic plan anyway.
  4. Yeah can be very difficult, I am size 12 or 30cm and I found boots in Victoria sports shop, they will even customize the shape of the boot for free to fit your foot properly, which is what I had done last year when I bought a new pair as my right foot is a little out of shape due to an accident I had years ago. And prices are not expensive either. Second hand gear is fine to buy, I bought some, but when it comes to boots you definately should buy new and make sure they fit perfect even if it means having them customized. They will affect how you ski, get a poor fitting pair and
  5. All good points from the above posters, I agree 100% I have both purchased and sold things on E-bay and honesty helps. Sometimes people want a particular item, and they sometimes are not bothered about a scratch or two, if they really want that item, but never the less always describe the product exactly as it is, including any problems and take pics from all different angles and if there are any marks, photo graph them so people can see. Also like JA said set your conditions in your ad, because if you don't and the people are not happy it will be a lot of hassle for you after. The cond
  6. Good job I saw the pic, thought you were on about rolling a frozen gay up in a bit of paper and smoking them, that would surely of been a tad on the illegal side to say the least. Ok clear now, lol!
  7. For me it's punishing the weights at my local gym 4 times a week along with burning up the tarmac on my bike doing 50 - 100 km runs, but then I am always doing this so not really pre-season prep, rather all year round body torture, nothing like staying in shape. Have to say though I have improved my diet though recently, not that it was so bad, but really concentrating on what I eat now, trying to pack on a bit more muscle again.
  8. Ok how I would interpret it is by the end of next week at the latest. To make it properly understood you would need to add a weekday then it is obvious, "by next friday" so at the latest next friday, but could be earlier.
  9. I found out why the difference, the price I pay not only includes shaken, but also the basic insurance, plus weight tax + age as at last shaken was less than 5 years old, so not just the size of the engine but weight and other things decides the price, also as my car came with a 5 year manufacturers warranty, in order to keep that valid I had to have it serviced at a official dealer, thus the rip-off price, having said that if anything went wrong in that time period no matter what it would be fixed free of charge. But as next year my car will be more than five years old I will try the rou
  10. My first comp was a ZX81 with no HDD and so little memory a calculator had more power, but it worked. Also it was only black & white. To load a program it used a cassete recorder, and if you didn't get the volume quite right it wouldn't always load. I also had a printer with it, which was like the receipt printers in shops only it used silver paper. At the time I thought it was great, hard to think the modern keitei is about a million times more powerful! Second was a commordore 64 with 64k of memory, no HDD, but it had a large floppy drive so at least it was possible to load thi

If you don't mind telling me where did you get a 1TB for 15,000 yen? Baffalo are good I got a 500GB Baffalo HDD!
  12. I have to comps, old desk top with XP and new laptop with Vista, and hardly use the desk top now, I like vista so much more. Where people might find a problem with vista is if they upgrade an old spec XP comp to vista, basically the older models haven't got the processing or graphics power that Vista demands. That is why all new comps come with eather dual or quad core processors 2- 4 gb memory and powerful graphics cards so that they can handle vista easily, thus giving a great computing experience. This goes with any windows, never good to upgrade to a later version on an old comp, be
  13. up to 1500cc will be a 500 plate. My previous car was 1500cc and was on a 500 plate, a 400 plate I don't know but below 2000cc I would guess?

My previous car was on a 500 plate and that used to cost about half what my car does now which is on a 300 plate.
  15. Thanks for that info, didn't know could do that here I always had my car done at a local dealer, I always inspect things myself anyway, and never had anything needed to be done to it as of yet, but even so it costs around 12 man for the two year shaken, which I find a complete rip-off, but thought that was the only way here. My car is on a 300 plate, so not sure if that bumps the price up. I know a K-car is like a fraction of what it would be for mine, as I asked about it, sorry forgot how much, but basically the smaller the engine and car the cheaper it is I believe??
  16. Yeah 200 posts soon adding up, already had a beer last night! Be a while catching you up muikamachi though, but who knows, given a few more years of posting. Some on here into the 10,000's must have nothing to do all day! LOL! <JK>
  17. Yeah good point, forgot to mention worth wearing goggles when you try to crush the drive, oh that goes for anything that could break up, please do it at your own risk though and be careful. Don't wont you to injure yourself just before the ski season kicks off. Have to say never seen glass inside a HDD, thin metal disks, but never glass, that's something new on me. Having said that I have only crushed a couple of drives so maybe not crushed enough to find the ones with glass.
  18. Yes, but the crime is definately on the increase, especially in the last five years, when I first came here, hardly heard of any crime, now something in the news everyday. It is true they hassle us gaijin and high school kids though, when most of the crimes are anyway commited by Japanese. Like Big will said they are not toughened up. Could you imagine the Japanese police being transfered to for example the UK, they wouldn't last a day, before they would be begging to come back to J-land. But oh well this is life!
  19. Yeah, makes you laugh, crist what a lot of pi+*=`g around just to catch one man. I agree the police here aint got a clue!
  20. Don't know about Hong Kong, but Japan to UK for a letter around 5 - 7 days, standard post, 2-3 days for special post. Parcels usually 7-10 days, normal parcel service, although has been quicker. If you want to guarantee a delivery date then best to send using registered post, which you can do through the post office, there are different services depending on what you want to send. Even a guaranteed delivery date will still be WITHIN a certain number of days.
  21. Wow 50 pages of rubbish now! what a load of great rubbish.
  22. He is a Brit who was living in Spain and had came to Japan on holiday. Either way the dillon is now giving all gaijin an even worse name than we probably already got. Now everytime a gaijin walks past the imperial palace police are going to be jumping out of bushes and checking to make sure no one else decides to swim naked in the moat!
  23. I have Japanese OS, and half my software is English half is Japanese, never had any problems. As a rule you can always install English based software on a Japanese system and it will work with no problems, but the opposite will cause problems unless you have a Japanese language pack installed, and even then there will be conflicts.
  24. Yep it is fun smashing a hard drive to bits with a hammer. I found best way unscrew the cover from one side, get a chisel and then wack it a few times with a nice 4 pounder, it guarantees a nicely broken drive that is impossible for anyone to use or decipher any more! Using it on a shooting range sounds good too! Have to try that one day. If you got a vice at home bolted to your bench, how about using your old drive as a strength testing device, just put it in the vice and turn and turn and see how flat you can make it. If you can really squash it flat you must be strong! This has
