  6. Timmeh, The problem is usually the batteries, not the camera. When batteries get cold they loose thier ability to output the proper voltage and the whole unit just stops dead at times with no warning. Back in the car, the battery probably warms up and is usuable again. For super cold conditions, I usually keep a battery in my glove or close to my body and switch it out when the other stops working. Another option is to get some kind of case or cover - it's usually the wind that chills it quickly.

  13. I've done Takkyubin from Kansai many times, works like a champ. Service is usually next day (depending on the time you drop it off). The only time it took me longer than a day was when I sent from Niseko to Hakuba, but I alloted extra days for that anyway. I recommend Kuroneko (black cat) or Sagawa.
  14. While the post was written in jest, I really think the emergency phone booth snowglobe would be a good one. Unfortunatly, it's an inside joke that only SJ'ers will understand...
  15. It's a terrible tragedy, but it does sound like you mowed them down - purposely or not.
  16. Gear in Japan is expensive - period. I know that others on the forums disagree on this point, but I have been able to get just about anything cheaper in the US. With that said, there are deals on last season's gear, but it's still not that great.
