  3. The Lib will probably do the on-piste return run a lot better because of the MagneTraction edges, but the Fish (this is a moot point since you can't find one to buy) will be more stable at speed because of the traditional camber between the bindings.
  4. Maybe he's trying to trick a "ski only" resort into thinking that he's really a skiier... ...on second thought, he's just a dork.
  5. Did they hassle you because you weren't white, or is that just something that only American cops do?

  7. Is that a seasonal? I haven't seen it in these parts... maybe just haven't been paying attention.
  8. Shinjuku? Keio Plaza if someone else is paying! New City Hotel on the back side of the park is a good cheap business hotel. The Washington costs a little more for a newer, smaller room, but it is a bit closer to the train station.

  10. Last time I was there, I just stayed in an inexpensive hotel near the JR train station (APA Hotel? something like that) for public transit convenience, but as others have indicated, if you are interested in the traditional Japanese inn (ryokan) experience, this would be a very good opportunity to give it a try.
  11. Chisun is Minami (South) 5, so that's a 5-block walk up to Odori-koen where the snow festival preparations are taking place... That's like an unencumbered 15-minute walk in summer, so maybe 20 to 30 minutes in winter. There's lots of things to see along the way though, so it will be interesting nonetheless.

  13. As far as I know, there are buses between Chitose Airport and Sapporo, and buses from Sapporo to Asahikawa, but there are no direct buses from Chitose Airport to Asahikawa.

During the snowy months, the park benches and trash receptacles migrate South. They return in spring.
  15. I used to get allergic bronchial spasms that I associated with certain canned products or Chinese food, so I thought there was some evil MSG link. However, on more careful observation, I noticed that it was really random and probably related to some other food ingredient or even some non-food cause. I think the MSG issue is for the most part untrue, especially since it is a naturally occurring substance. Of course, I'm also sure that one can't up and swallow a spoonful of it and expect no ill effect!

  18. I don't think I've ever seen that. Sounds illegal (or if it isn't, it really should be!)?
  19. Hope the knee heals up well and rehab goes fast enough so you can maybe get some Southern hemisphere winter riding in!
  20. It's been snowing constantly in Sapporo for the past bunch of days, so there should be some good snow for the weekend. Yikes - it's like around -18C at most nearby areas... better take the long-sleeve fleece.
  21. The Weiss cat tour website does not appear to have been updated since the 2008/2009 season. I think you may be out of luck.
