Thanks for all your tips guys! I ended up finding a hostel - K's House Kyoto. We're still in our 20's so don't mind hostels and meeting other people. My next challenge is Tokyo. I want to stay in the Shinjuku area. Where would you recommend? Thanks!

During our 2 week trip to Japan my partner and I are planning to stay in Kyoto for about 3 nights. We want to stay somewhere central, is that what people would suggest? I was looking at the area of Gion. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Thanks for all your help guys.. i will be looking into those places.. i just had another quick question too.. because we're only going for 2 weeks we want to try and fit in as much as possible.. where are some of the "must see" places to go e.g. Kyoto etc..

Heya, My bf and i will be heading to Japan early Feb 2011. We're going to be snowboarding at Nozawa Onsen & Hakuba. Any suggestions on where to stay at these places? I was talking to someone the other day and they said that there is a place in Nozawa where they have a ping pong table. As my bf loves playing (we have one in our garage atm) he wanted to see if we could find out the name of the accommodation where this is. All he could remember that it was at the bottom of the slopes. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
