  1. anything...... bloody anything..... is cheaper outside england...... anywhere..... ok maybe not norway. just paid almost 90 quid for a new british passport. sorry, skis & boots? lots & lots of shops in tokyo to choose from, you could find a good deal. compared to snow & rock in london, for example, yahh you should be able to find something cheaper than those inflated prices. last years gear always a good idea. depends how big your feet are too, might be a little tricky to find large sizes in japan. good luck!
  2. Yeah super fun huh?! I was just stoked that all these awesome trails are right on my doorstep. Think we are going to ride Glentress tomorrow - http://www.7stanes.gov.uk/forestry/achs-5rnfvj - whooop whooop
  3. Ok i'm now doing my course with the British Association of Ski Patrollers, so count me out.... but thanks though! Hope everyone who wants to, can do a course in English in a good snowy location.
  4. woahhh a happy seven pass kuma!!! you must be so stoked! nice work! well done everyone!
  5. There is nightlife in Hakuba But we actually have snow here unlike Europe, so you don't need to party quite as hard (I'm not talking about my own personal preferences here), because you might wanna get up in the morning and shred some pow. There's always a party in Hakuba though, always.
  6. I may also be interested. I'm supposed to be doing an Emergency First Aid course with the British Association of Ski Patrollers next weekend, but the plans are a little up in the air now, at the last minute. If I don't do that course, i'd be interested in one run in English, when I return to Japan. One in a ski resort..... like..... Hakuba??
  7. bit of a local scene. weekends are busier with parties, djs. echoland would be party central for hakuba. a few good bars, one club & plenty of izakaya food places to start off the night. tokyo weekenders don't party, they drink beer in their hotel rooms after an onsen, season workers are ummmm.... usually working (it's japan after all). more beer for us. do you like reggae?
  8. Nice FT We've got a real nice set up for biking over here in Scotland. Last weekend, Bob, Danny & I rode the Pheonix Trail at Mabie Forest, part of the 7 Stanes Project - http://www.7stanes.gov.uk/forestry/INFD-5S3EZC - which I was blown away by. Pretty much 18km of singletrack, with hard climbs, flowing epic decents, plenty of technical rocky & rooty sections, berms, northshore features, drops and really varied scenery. I rode the Aokiko course in Hakuba (short technical downhill with lifts up) a lot before I left in the Summer, so it was nice to get out and ride something
  9. so everyone's buff huh TJ? oh damn and i was hoping they'd lost all their hot arm buffness over summer....................... NOT! back to spy very soon. i bet you missed my laughing the whole way through abs, right?
  10. 30 days, 2 hours, 38 minutes, and 16 seconds... not that i'm counting or anything.
  11. at least those girls are gettin it right, and looking hot. at my gym there is one dude affectionately known as 'yoga man' who thrusts around the place in bare feet. and then there's the guy in 1980s running shorts, pulled up too high (eek!), looking like he's goin to run a marathon... oh man, i really don't wanna look at this guy's ass. just a few more weeks of these gym weirdos and then i'll be back with TJ and the hot head band dude. yoga pants for you CB, it's all about the headbands for me.
  12. Certainly looks pretty dry in this picture. 13. Yeh we got some snow on the Cairngorms. http://www.cairngormmountain.co.uk/web-cam/ Should be heading up North to do some stuff (not skiing obviously) soon. But i'll be back in Japan this winter anyway, so don't care how much it snows here... it won't REALLY snow here. CB - nice edit. I can tell you are amped for this year. Could it have anything to do with a Pontoon/Duke combo? Oh i can feel the excitement lol. Where am i in Scotland? Dumfries & Galloway, land of some quite nice mountain biking. http://www.7stanes.gov.uk/ Will see y'all in December....
  14. seems like the dude bought eric pollard's skis and, you know, wanted to be like him... shredding pow switch is pretty much all pollard does these days apparently (see MSP' push... yawn).

Oyuki - if i'm still in euro at that point, i'll sycronize my watch and climb the most japanese lookin hill i can find, and pray for snow. Hey man, we already got a sprinkling of white stuff in Scotland, though i'm not holding my breath for big pow here lol. Word on the street is lots of moths, big snow and all that this winter. Sweet.
  16. ha yeh, people creating stories (people you know well, cb) helped create 'that' oh so pleasant mess. i don't think we have to go over it again, esp not on here. cb - thanks yes i do have some good scenic shots of hakuba - and others i never posted on here - and yes FF, he must be joking. SJ - nothing to do with you guys at all, took the photos off for another reason.
  17. well that of course depends on your definitions of what is "better".... but lets not go there AGAIN. by the way to do work for niseko or something? lol hang on, what was the answer to the question - which is bigger - the niseko mountain or happo? surely it doesn't take 5 pages to answer a simple question like that, non?
  18. oh perfect, was just asking kuma where to buy red kidney beans in a PM.... but he doesnt have a clue. does anyone know if you can usually buy kidney beans in the supermarket in japan? might just go and have a look eh.....
  19. i heard from a few people who went, that the snow in niseko wasnt actually "excellent" this year..... not to fuel this angry fire anymore though. i skied wicked pow in hakuba this year, but that's the difference between living somewhere and going on a one week holiday?
  20. yeah also, hakuba is a great location for those 99% people too though, with tons of resorts in one valley, like i said before - but what the hell, i dont really care, i'm off to ride it euro style. forgot to say - would be good if there were more niseko types on here, come on niseko.... represent! not in some ridiculous argument though, just in general. i think i might have been in all the bar brawls this year...... wicked fun. was the music to that other video really "i want to ride the white horse" or something? hahahaha nice PS - where the hell are all the icon thin
  21. ok yeah i'd lable heli skiing in kamchatka, or chasing the storm in iran - a more dangerous 'extreme' location, but i wouldn't make such a comparison between hakuba and niseko, unless you really are coming to hakuba do something extreme, which i'm sure 99% of the punters on this forum are not.
