  1. The idea is great, but a microdrive isn't a good memory storage device. Many photographers used these microdrives but they have a tendency to break. So if you have this thing and you crash while skiing/boarding it might be the end of your $1800 camcorder.
  2. Variable costs of my car are about equal to a return Skink ticket. So I always take the car.
  3. Late April sounds like a good time to go. Toque, how long did it take you to get to the summit? Regular walking up time?
  4. You should aim higher. Take the fundraiser over the summer with the goal of getting a seasonpass to Arai or some other resort.
  5. Tsondaboy, What happened in Hokkaido? Hit a tree and had a brainscan? Hope you had a great time. Yeah yesterday evening was very short notice. Maybe next week?
  6. I got 6, very bad. But maybe I could do better if they look straight in the camera. Ngarutoa I like your new Avatar, but what's up with you and Satoya??
  7. I prefer NZ over the Chile for the attitude. More laid back, more focused on the snow. Although Santiago is a great city and if you want to relax for a day you can take a bus to the beach. Most resorts in Chile are higher up and will always have snow, although they have had many seasons with a lack of snow or only big dumps in September.
  8. The club fields are great! Although you might think of hitting the gym to hold your nutcracker for the whole day. The first time I went to a clubfield I had to quit skiing, not because my legs were tired but my hands couldn't hold on to the nutcracker anymore. On the flat part is was still ok, but on steeps you really need to squize these things.
  9. - Capacity is 100 persons a day tour. (minimum 5 pesons) This is going to be fun. With 100 people going down the mountain all wanting the first tracks (if possible). Chinese downhill style!
  10. From the Alyeska site: Alyeska Resort is the premier resort for family vacations, rated in the Top 25 ski resorts in North America by Skiing Magazine. Not much competition to heliskiing.
  11. Sven I wish I could have censored those vids before you sent them to SJ.
  12. On Friday it snowed just 5cm, but we were able to find some places where faceshots were possible. During the week the temp was alright so the snow stayed good, although you could feel some icy layersbreaking under your skis
  13. You could try to sell your story to a magazine to make something out of it, but you will need good pictures. If you are into touring try Pakistan or even Afghanistan that will make up a good story to sell to a magazine. There are plenty of people making a living by writing about their (snowboard)travels. Try to make your trip different, by going to different places (South-africa) or the way you travel. (Once heard about a Japanese guy cycling around the world with his standard Japanese 3-speed bicycle).
  14. Probably missed out on the best snow, but I had to work. I was hoping on enough snow during the day so I would be able to call in and say that I was snowed in in Nozawa. There is always next time.
  15. I have a helmet always in the car, but usually keep it there. So its main use is as a very big and shockproof goggle case.
  16. Think it snowed more in Tokyo then in Nozawa last Friday. The falling snow was particularly heavy around Karuizawa, but when we got down to Nagano it was raining. Still had some good runs through the fog.
  17. It was great to meet you. Had expected a higher tunr-up though. But this was good to at least meet/talk to everyone. I liked the places. Pretty boring no really loud music and if you run out of topics to talk about then there is always the waitress. I like Kabuki-cho better than Sanchome. At least you know exactly what to expect in kabukicho. Feels a bit like the red light district back home (but further away). Odd place but in general pretty safe if you don't fool around with certain people.
  18. There used to be the Jonny Mosely Skiing game made by 3DO for Nintendo and Playstation. There is off course jibberish . A newschool ski game, where you can choose who your rider is. What skis he uses and the color of his outfit Another fun game is Free Fall Skiing
  19. 2 weeks ago I was in Naeba and a lot of terrain was closed. Patrol was on high alert. But you could easily circumvent the ropes to get waistdeep into the good stuff. I didn't duck or jump ropes, just took a more creative lineon the slopes, with 5meters walking up to a closed chair. If they don't want me there then they should make rethink on where they put the ropes.
  20. I am planning to stop by the Clubhouse tomorrow around 6pm. Looking forward to meet you all.
