    Busy or not busy?

I was at Maiko just north of Yuzawa the other day. It was busier than I thought it would be, though less than usual I am told. Ishiuchi looked rather quiet when I went past, though it was early morning.
  2. Are documents like that purposefully written in language that is hard to understand? Why can't they be written in simple words that non lawyers will understand. Grrr.

    Japan 2019-2020: a one off?

I can see a fair number of ski-jo going bankrupt, especially as you head west. What a grim season.

    skiing late march

If things don't change drastically, there's not going to much come late March. I wonder how long places like Kagura would be able to continue....

    Buying/ renting ski pants Furano

Sorry don't know Furano but I am sure the people you are staying with would be able to point you in right directions. Unless it was a trick question! ;) Have fun whatever up there, wish I was going.

    Early season in Japan

Looks like it is 'much less than usual' everywhere. Least in recent history for the end of the year/New Year?

    skiing late march

Let us hope that the season has just been delayed - late start / late finish!
  8. I wonder if there might have been a plan for a gondola to connect them at one time? (Maybe not!) It's just the same company owning them, hence lift ticket stuff and events.

    French language spoken in Japan

Well, here in this area - don't expect to be hearing much French at all!

Day from Niseko - Kiroro or Rusutsu?

I did both when I went and would definitely recommend doing that especially if you are there for over a week. Also preferred Kiroro.

    Ski rentals, Fukushima, Akita, Iwate.

That's a heck of a wide question! Perhaps if you are more specific?
  12. This is what I heard from a friend who is a manager at a ski-jo in the Yuzawa area. Ishiuchi Maruyama is now owned by a 子会社 of Nippon Cable. Over at Nozawa Onsen, a new Gondola is going to be made to replace the Nagasaka Gondola. One without a mid station. That is due for the 2020-2021 season and it will be made by Nippon Cable. The curiously short one at Ishiuchi was build as a kind of test / learning process with the new technology for what will be the much larger Nozawa one. Totally don't know how much of that is true, but it's interesting all the same.

    Is Kusatsu (Gunma) still open?

I did too. A shame. There's not much left of interest for me now there. Like the onsen though!
  14. Hi! I think the 3 places to look at are Norn Minakami and the two Minakami Kogen areas close to Hodaigi Definitely Norn as they seem to make a big point about their snow land area and it seems popular https://www.snowjapan.com/japan-ski-resorts/gunma/minakami/norn-minakami and maybe these two as they are smaller more family places, not exactly sure what they snow playing areas are like https://www.snowjapan.com/japan-ski-resorts/gunma/minakami/minakami-kogen-fujiwara https://www.snowjapan.com/japan-ski-resorts/gunma/minakami/minakami-kogen-ski-resort

    Why does Minakami include Naeba?

This might be totally wrong but I remember someone telling me locally that Naeba has some kind of tie-up with Minakami tourist assn. or something. Promotional kind of stuff, as it obviously is not in Minakami.
