  1. Hey everyone, i've booked my trip to Japan spending some time in Tokyo, then up to Hakuba @ Snowbeds for 10 days. I have a flight from Narita to Bangkok @ 10am so i'm forced to spend a night in Narita before this flight. So far i've done my trip REALLY cheap, is there any budget accommodation in Narita which is close to the airport and easy to get to from Shinjuku? Everything looks so expensive so far! Thanks for any suggestions and advice, - Steve
  2. australians are some of the most trusting people in the world, but you're not australian if you trust politics...
  3. that video of danny way doing the great wall is so dissapointing compared to the DC video which was epic and beautifully filmed!
  4. stickers would be cool! wearing them on helmets/ski's/boards would be awesome then we could randomly run into other members on the slopes
  5. targets... - pay for my trip to japan - arrive in hakuba injury free and stay that way - jump off things covered in white fluffy stuff - learn more technical flatland tricks - add another 10 cans to my japanese beer collection and manage to get them through customs
  6. 7 on ski's then going 5 on board (i blame dad for me not going pro cause he started me on skis! j/k)
  7. hello, im looking into hiring a snowboard and boots for my girlfriend for 10 days in feb next year, who knows the cheapest/best company or person to go to? the other option is buying her equipment but were tight on money. cheers! - steve
  8. crap! Tokyo Yoyogi is already booked all of Feb 2006, Tokyo Sumidagawa is the same price but i'm not sure where it is exactly on the map? http://www.hihostels.com/performOpenHosteldetail.do?shop=32354
  9. hmmm, i was looking at the JYH page and we're thinking about staying in the Tokyo Yoyogi hostel for a 2/3 nights in Tokyo, its across from Sangubashi Station (http://www.jyh.or.jp/english/kanto/yoyogi/index.html) ... it's 3000yen per night which is pretty damn cheap! would this be an ok location to see shinjuku, shibuya, rapongi and asakusa? Has anyone had any experience or advice about cheap accommodation in Tokyo? cheers !
  10. cool thanks for the help! i think i'll take the bus service from Shinjuku, thats the cheapest so far! the more money i save the more i can spend on riding time!
  11. sava: she's done about a week, havent seen her ride yet, but im taking to our resorts a bit so she should be confident with blue runs by the time we're in hakuba
  12. oh yeah, gamera, would you have a website for that bus service? thanks!
  13. awesome! thanks so much for the fast replies the hire is for my girlfriend, if she can afford it we'll try and buy her a setup here, she's tall but luckily has small feet so we can still hire as a last resort!
  14. Hey, I'm trying to find out the cheapest (doesn't have to be the fastest) way from Tokyo to the resorts in Hakuba and back. I saw the Shinkansen is about 8000yen b/w Tokyo and Nagano one way . Are there slower and cheaper train or bus services? Thanks in advance for the help! Also, just quickly, finding out lift/hire prices is a pain! I found that hakuba47 has a 5 day pass, but what about hire? they only had 1 day prices... Please don't tell me they charge per day! In Australia 7 days is the $ of 3 single days! cheers
  15. awesome, cheers for the help.. i didnt get to read it til today i had to reformat my computer (go spyware!). if i set out about 15-17 days to travel starting at tokyo, does anyone have some suggestions to the layout of the trip.. id want like 4-5 days in tokyo and 7-8 days at a resort within travelling distance like hakuba. what would be some nice places to stop at b/w in beteen and maybe some day trips from hakuba? thanks!
  16. thanks for the help guys, ive seen tokyo a bit already so we wouldnt spend too long in the city i totally agree Yamakashi. It might be worth getting a car but they are like 8,000Y a day! So much more felxibility to travel with one though! with the hakuba resorts does one ski pass cover all of them? it would be ideal if we could go to an area within travelling distance from tokyo with more that one resort on the same pass. any ideas? cheers!

  18. hey, need some advice please! i've done two trips to niskeo hirafu with my parents and i HAVE to get back to japan for the upcoming season. i'm a student and this time im planning to bring my girfriend with me. ive got a few questions and it would be really appreciated if anyone can help im tossing up between niseko, which ive been to twice, and maybe hakuba? i havent been there but it sounds great! we will be on a really tight budget, probably 10 days snowboarding and 7 days travelling in tokyo or something. basically i cant decide if we should go tokyo then train to hakuba, or
  19. is it just me or is everyone in the San Andreas tralier and pictures african american?
  20. hey, generally dvd players play VCD's... pretty much all of them do here (australia) and that would also be the case world wide. make sure you look on the box though, there is VCD2 format also.
  21. thanks for the help and opinions, ill be in niseko for 2 weeks in late jan, so the conditions will probably too hard and unpredicatble. however, i went this year in january and there was a good few days of sun and no snow, which sucked from a powder point of view, but if one of those windows popped up gain i might consider getting a guide to take me part of the way up. it would be an awesome experience so if not this year then next!
  22. hey, i visited niseko last year and was pretty blown away by Mt Yotei it looked spectacular. I heard that its a 6 hour hike to the top, has anyone done the hike? was it a great run down? im not an expert but i can ride ok, what ability level is the run down, and what level of fitness and hiking ability is required? cheers
