  1. If you go through the Rookie Academy in NZ based in Wanaka you will get the chance (providing you pass) to do a season in Hyogo West Japan teaching to groups of JHS/HS students. It used to be just skis but the boarding side of it is (finally) becoming a lot more popular (amongst the students that is).Good Luck>
  2. You know its classic..because I actually did this job (just once for a five hour shift and got paid handsomely for it (over 3000 yen an hour)..It was absolutely bizzare now that I think of it...We were obviously just their as show pieces of some description..It was funny because people would pull up early morning and I'd be standing there with my big jacket, beanie, goggles etc and ORANGE LIGHT SABRE..Just holding that thing I felt so much power..People would start blaring full noise and I could speaak 5/8ths of FA Nehongo at the time....So I would just stand there and then lift my goggles to
  3. Probably one of the most shitehouse days I've had was at Concrete Peak in Queenstown NZ....It was more like ice skating than skiing or boarding...not pleasant!
  4. I would say that your friend had a run in with some bouncers (guardmen)at a nightclub or something and they forcibly removed him from the premises!
  5. oh yeah...?....hurt more than wrapping yourself around that tree....?...that deal sounds too good...!! take it easy talk soon!
  6. That must be even more fun in the WRX Jacob..eh?. Send me your no. if you get this...Have to do another day at Grand Deco this season.>(and scare the shit out them then!)...How Is it up there right now???....Ai san ni yoroshiku..
  7. Great interview.... Agreed..Kling Klan..sounds like he is a switched on cat with experience and contacts in a variety of industries in which he can draw from.. I heard from a very reliable source that although it probably was a good buy Hanazono is still not for certain yet. They may have the land but are stil deciding what to do with it as far as I can gather. They plan to either ping it/ subcontract it heavily or do it all themselves in 3 Stages. This guy said there will most likely be nothing ready in the next 3-4 years as there is not the infrastructure that the Village has and or Sewag
  8. I would go for Niseko Hirafu and Grande Monte/Chamonix once. For groomed corduroy Treble Cones Main Street.
  9. Sheesh Schinken ...thanks for that...I might have to reconsider the tour....I realise now I spelt it wrong so will check the net later....
  10. That show sounds great..I hope to get along to the next gig..On Sunrises issue..how about some pronunciation confirmation...In my head I use Torque as in what a WRX impreza has or like the movie "Look who's talking" ...Is it Toke as in smoke or Too kee as in OK or Torquay lke the beach in Australia somewhere?...Should we create a poll?...
  11. Anyone been to this resort?....Will be going on bus trip this weekend..Any experiences?...good/bad/ indifferent or whatever...I heard its a hell of a long way so will brace myself for that..Came back last night from Hakuba however by bus..Was a lot less painful than anticipated...Drives stopped at Tsutaya for us so we had four flicks to watch on the way back...If its comfortable and you got all the mod cons I reckon its a great affordable way to get to the mountains...any shocker "My name is Auto I like to get blotto" bus horror stories?
  12. I agree with Snobbes comment about the grinding teacher. Once I was teaching skiing to a group of kids from Osaka from a reform type school. There was one kid called Nakamura san...A real undisciplined bad egg with earings and peroxide hair..(14yr old) He had ciggarettes but no lighter and kept skiing away from the group asking strangers for fire....I got so pissed with him I skiied up behind him and wrapped my carbon fibre poles round the back of his knees...He didn't turn up for the afternoon class and the rest of the group simmered down a lot too...I'm guessing he's doing time somewhere the
  13. the place where we stayed the owner said he wants to relocate to Gifu....Far too many Skippys up there for his liking!... The crowds were only there on the weekends. Also the night skiing has to be up there with the best in the country!
  14. I'v got a feeling I'm gonna be hit with this sooner or later...Am interested in other peoples experiences (i.e ways around it if possible)...I've heard company may pay it depending....what are the terms...i.e how often after your first couple of years?..and if necessary how and where do you pay it?@ city hall or post office?...any help/ experiences would be a great help..... thanks in advance boardbaka
  15. Sorry to be pessimistic but working for a Japanese ski school is not all beer and skittles! It is basically babysitting for a start unless you are race training or working for a foreign co. such as Club Med. You will be expected to sit through countless meetings all in Japanese and then fold bids etc at the end of the day. The pay in my experience is also less than you might initially expect.. But as they say what you put in is what you should expect to get out of it! Good luck. boardbaka
  16. I must admit I was one of them....no reply though....Come on the other 13....own up!
  17. I'll give you a game...there are literally hundreds of places...See the latest copy of Metropolis magazine online. There is a feature on darts/biliards in there. Also try bagus in Roppongi and new one in Akasaka.
