  1. Four days in Falls Creek for a snowboard experience. First day I felt pain all over but gritted the teeth and beared the next day too. I still tell people snowboarding has such a steep learning curve. I was getting air (huge air I don't think so) on the fourth day. Hooked.
  2. Quote: Originally posted by Bushpig: Had none at Mizuho. Was bloody crowded though. Typical western Japan weekend crowds Yeah, Bushpig, I was at Osorakan on Saturday, too many people indeed. About the music, wouldn't mind it in the park areas but up the mountain I prefer the tranquility of the mountain itself. Yes, very Zen.
  3. Sad. I've never really thought of wearing a helmet cause I don't frequent the park much. Guess one should always be protected.
  4. It's been insanely cold down here in Fukuoka. Insanely as in out of the norm. Up north you guys have to be enjoying one of the best seasons ever. Jealous. However, there is hope for a southern dweller. One of the local snowboard/wakeboard shops is putting on a late season tour up to Niseko Hirafu. March 2nd to the 5th. Hopefully there are still some freshies to be had. There's a bunch of 20 Kyushu-ites going up so should be a laugh. Any other southerners keen, PM me for details. One question, I've only been there once. Any suggestions on which runs to spend my time
  5. Poor Chelsea might lose some money....bah! They won more than AC Milan did in the 04/05 Champions League. Something like 28 million. Anyone getting ready to become square eyed Confed watchers?

Theyre contract workers so all the commercials, appearances, dramas, and everything else they do is under contract. What a life that must be Sorry to jump back a bit but I found this interesting. Yes, what a life it must be. I h
  7. Does the sports editor for the JT still choose the sexiest sports-women photos? I recall his selection of Serena Williams photos and Kournikova (even when she loses in the first round). Well, he has an eye for the more risque sports snaps.
  8. Keep that 'other body' out of here. Yes, we've been rockin and rolling here in Kyushu almost once a fortnight since the big one which stimulated this thread. Just last week I was woken by a 5er. Damn good alarm clock, I tell ye. From the model they had on NHK news I understand the stress thats going down on those pacific plates. Wouldn't surprise me if Rahjas prediction is right. Hell I reckon we'll be due for another rattler about next week. Golden Week sounds about right. Have yourself a nice, golden one. Shaken, not stirred.
  9. Where are these forms available from? And do you know the japanese names for them? Thinking I am due some back from the income tax people just so I can hand it over to the City tax people. I mean, sort it out, can't they get together and work out how much I owe? Should pay the city one before they kick me out of the city all together. haha.
  10. I haven't recieved a pay check for 4 months now so I really have to plan how I am going to make that 4000 yen last two weeks. Surely have to budget on some sake for hanami!!
  11. It should slip in and out with ease. Take it to the dealer or someone who knows the ins and outs of things!
  12. Goes to show my non-religiousness. Easter probably should be sad. A great man died. But hey, then he rose again. he he. Joy!
  13. Do you think the teachers can really put out true tears for such an events or are they really 'giri-tears'?
  14. What makes us different? Is it just because we can talk and write postings on our favourite forum? Is it because we can ride very fast on long flat things down mountains? Just as a tiger protects it's domain, the West attacks weaker countries with Starbucks and Cluster Bombs. How are we different?
  15. Nori-chan, Being from a non-religious background, Easter to me is: having hot-cross-buns, eating loads of chocolate in the form of eggs or bunnies (ie. see previous picture) and saying... HAPPY EASTER to everyone!
  16. I also think English has a lot more gray areas when it comes to prepositions and the like. I try to get my students just to remember things as a phrase. 'go to the movies', 'see a movie', 'get on the train', 'get off the train' We don't learn all the rules of grammar when we are kids. We just repeat what we hear from our parents. It's subconscious learning. I ask my Japanese friends about grammar all the time and they can't give me a straight forward answer as to 'why?' Thanks for your little 'grammar bit' though, will try and remember! Ganbattemasu.
  17. ...and those apple pies are so healthy!
  18. wish we had the same system (PAL/NTSC) in Australia, I would do the same
  19. Do I have to put a picture (photo) in my members profile before I can post it here?

Fukuoka only got hit with a 6. It was stronger in some parts of the city than others. Where I was, it threw a lot of things about. My friends' decks were left destroyed but in my apartment there were only a few things fallen. OK, so I like the thrill of the earth moving! Did it move for you? Not to say I don't have to change my underwear everytime we get an aftershock. Still shaking!
  21. Richter 6 surfaced at about 10:53 this morning and spilt my coffee. Not happy. It's amazing how flimsy big, concrete apartment buildings really can be. The aftershocks occurred intermittently all day. I still feel like everythings moving sometimes and have to check the glass of water on the table to see if it's just me or Richter 1 or 2 saying hello again. Wonder if I'll sleep tonight Although it was extremely scary it's funny how I still felt some sort of excitment during it all. Is that weird?
  22. I used Japaren once. They were fine. Not sure about the English website though. http://www.japaren.0123.ne.jp/index.html
  23. Yes, cause if it was instant ramen then I hope it was Umakachaaaaa!!
  24. Actually I want one thing and quite possibly it can't even be done by the police. The boys in Tokyo should create noise pollution laws aimed at delivery trucks and their annoying slogans when they park...and then there is the Socialist Party....
  25. I fell asleep and ended up an hour from my station. Actually I've done that twice and once on a 'bus to nowhere"
