  1. I haven't read the book on Terri so I can't really say. I'm not being argumentative but how is it that some of you KNOW she didn't want to continue living in this way. Did she have a living will or was she really outspoken on the subject? Is she in pain? Is she suffering? If she is I favor cutting the food and water. If she simply lacks cognition I think she deserves medical aid, food and water. Why not let her parents take her? It brings them a great deal of joy and perhaps hope to see her and spend time with her. Her high profile status might lead to more funding (public
  2. Is Meet the Parents the Ben Still and Robert DeNiro one? Not steve martin is it??
  3. powwers, Is your visa status up to date in Japan or are you on a tourist visa? If you've been in Japan for more than a year your Int'l Lic in no longer accepted. You must get a j-license. I don't know if that's the problem you had or not...just trying to help.
  4. The question is what's missing?? I'd like to replace Pee Wee's BA with One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest.
  5. At gunpoint once. Verbally too many times to remember. As a young kid I was in danger anytime I stepped out of the house. I never used the regular sidewalk or streets to get from A to B. I ran inbetween houses and through allys to stay hidden from the older kids that would undoubtedly hurt me if I were caught.
  6. http://www.japantoday.com/e/?content=news&cat=2&id=275167 I've heard varrying acconts of this story but if the allegations are substantiated I find this teacher to be utterly despicable and a sorry excuse for an educator. I think the teacher is on suspension now - with or w/out pay I don't know.
  7. Matsui is a lucky man!! First year in the Big's (Dai Leagu) and he's in the World Series. Many great players never make it to the WS! Shi***est team in baseball would be the Detroit Tigers this year. They tied (I think) the record for the worst single season record. Since my Dodgers (NL) nor Twins (AL) didn't make it, GO YANKS!
  8. In kindergarden I wanted to be a bird when I got old enough (my dad said I could be ANYTHING). By second grade I learned that was rediculous. By fourth grade I dreamed of becoming a truck driver (16 wheeler!). The camper in the back of the truck, the open road, the loud horn...oh, man! It all seemed very cool Then, by fifth grade I started watching Fernando Valenzuela on TV and that was it. I was going to play pro baseball for the LA Dodgers. I didn't get drafted out of college. I guess the Dodgers were adequately staffed already. SO, Look for a PEDRO'S CANTI
  9. Migraine dude, You might be insane. I'd check if I were you. Ocean, still having a good week, eh? Still clever as a common house fly.
  10. Don't be lazy! Hell, you've given the group more than 4000 posts and that's your response?? Ocean the mighty poster can't defend his moronic idea of a new WTC location. Not surprised his 4000 plus posts would eventually run out of gas. Comprehensible? I think I've called you on your comprehension... Really, have a great week my friend!
  11. O'chan, What hint? I'm not a Bush fan. Many Americans are not. I was just saying your idea for a WTC replacement was moronic. I stand by it. Say for example Big Ben was dropped on 9/11. If I suggested it was replaced with a giant "hollow" Tony Blair building I would call MYSELF a moron. Low class and rude. What say you? I'm not going to "learn to live with it" as you requested. Insensitive morons will always be a part of society that I don't agree with or respect. YOU learn to deal with it. By the way. what is the cult of 9/11? you speek of??? Was it not a
  12. I am sorry for your loss as well. I don't know the proper "aisatsu" but I don't think you need to express your sorrow. I DO know you need a special envelope with some money in it (you will recieve a gift in return) I would bank on no less than 10,000. You will sign into a book and most likely have to explain your donation (how much you gave). you will also most likely be told were to sit and at some point be directed with a group of others sitting near you to approach the front to place some salt and pepper looking stuff in a bowl, hit the thing with a little hammer a couple of times,
  13. Ocean, Do you think you are funny or clever or are you just retarded? If you are (retarded) I don't mean to discriminate. I've been rude. If not, you have. Don't take me as a hyper sensitive American, it's just that your stupid idea for a WTC replacement was just low class. Yes, I'm new here and I see you are the "king of the forum" but grow up.
  14. I like the Allah and Jehova idea. But I think it might promote more trouble. NCY is an American symbol as much as it is a functional city. I think people look to NYC as American strength....I could be wrong. In any event, I say rebuild the WTC area in a very powerfull way......make a statment. Architectually speaking...the landmarks/buildings that arise will most likely last longer than the memories of what happened there..make it COUNT!!! I hope to see a new New York that looks strong, proud and revived. I personally am not a New Yorker but feel the city could use a facelift o
  15. I regretfully admitt to having spent a night in an American jail My buddies and I got arrested for public intox after a day of surfing we had a few beers on a beach where drinking was forbiden. I guess the police wanted to make a statement?? I still don't know and was never asked to pay a fine. Just a night in jail. I met some pretty cool guys in there. The white cops had a lot of attitude.. Oh, and they really do take your shoe laces!
  16. Ever taken a cab in NY?? I sure believe the 90/95% thing. English is definitelty a dissadvantage in a NYC cab "pearls melt in vinigar"....and gold or silver tarnishes in many onsens (be carefull!! platinum is OK)
  17. mossies?? I love that slang! I'll use that....but they still won't bite me
  18. Omiyage is a gift. It is usually given on return from just about any trip you ever go on (in your Japanese life). It could also be a visit to someone's house, etc, where you bring a bottle of wine, etc. It's a thoughfull tradition but I wish the whole omiyage idea would end. It is sooooooooo troublesome that every time you travel you must spend the time to get everyone you know (practically) a little insignificant gift. I've spent full days on trips to like Thailand or Hawaii buying everyone I know in Japan omiyage! Sorry, that's just my opinion
  19. Keeping up with the insect topic: I've noticed not everyone seems appealing to a mosquito. I haven't researched it but am quite sure some people get bitten more than others. I am luckily one of the people mosquitos just don't like to feed on. I don't think I've ever been bitten (and I camp on beaches, etc, quite frequently). However, my wife seems to be one of the "tasty" people. Mosquitos love her. Any ideas on this???? Why do some people get bitten and other don't?
