  1. Boards of Canada - Twoism in a similar vein - Autechre, Plaid good stuff to have on headphones while working - moody/soundtrack-ey/interesting without being too distracting. IMHO, all that rockin white stripes stuff has been done to death - they sound like the kind of thing i heard in pubs when i was 18... but that was quite a long time ago now... not very interested in rock since the acid-house daze(although i do quite like Placebo)
  2. ....the distant echo of J-pop coming from the resort while you zoom down secret valleys... I often find myself humming whatever song is stuck in my head at the time... at the moment its this one > http://www.rathergood.com/bill/ some of the stuff on this site is so funny... some of its just daft though.
  3. I extended my Niseko snow-cam "time-lapse" movie - its about 1.2mb interesting to see the accumulation overnight in the dissolve, but there's no obvious increase in the depth during today (04/12/03) http://home.swiftdsl.com.au/~alferg/japan_2004_season/niseko_live2-a_cam.mov also did one for the other cam http://home.swiftdsl.com.au/~alferg/japan_2004_season/niseko_live1-a_cam.mov
  4. he should indeed be a cane toad check this out - its defiantely accumulating! http://home.swiftdsl.com.au/~alferg/japan_2004_season/03_12_03_anim.mov & there's 2 big snowmen now - with their mysterious green hats & purple gloves http://www.snowjapan.com/e/resorts/resortdetail.php?resid=120
  5. so what is the significance of the different coloured hats? & erm, ok... look, im sorry mr Ocean, but I havent been paying attention...send me to the back of the class & spank me with your ruler if you so wish... I'm assuming you mean that the snowmen are the most reliable indicator? please enlighten me! snowjapan needs a frog... there's this guy called "the frog" who predicts snowfalls in Aus, & he's rather good at it... gives estimates on how much will fall & to what altitude, 1-2 weeks in advance. I've learnt a lot from watching the forecasters on ski.com.au... I d
  6. O11 will only be happy when he's got a snowman on top... he likes it like that...
  7. yeah..."and the news"... ...which might be good, if the niseko locals are on the ball? from http://nisekohirafu.com Locals still say we will be having snow for the next eight days, and that it will mostly be snowing heavily. We all hope they know what they are talking about! i hope so too!
  8. Wednesday 3rd December 2003, 1:35PM Snow flakes falling on and off today, but current air and ground temperatures are still too warm for the snow to collect properly. Huey-san really needs to get his act together!
  9. thats depressing... didnt know that... i see theres a fat snowman for today though!
  10. Whats that then, a bleedin scotch mist? http://www.snowjapan.com/e/resorts/resortdetail.php?resid=120 (well, from saturday onwards anyway...)
  11. O11, you got it back to front mate - you Honshie Mexicans down south will be sloppin around in the mud looking for stink-bugs to garnish your miso soup, while up near Siberia in beautiful icy Hokkers, we wont be able to see our riding buddies through the massive ROOSTER TAILS we'll be making as we plough through the armpit-deep virgin POWDER!!
  12. how many of you lot will be there & when? im there 24/12 to 4/1 would be neat to hook up, show each other our favorite lines
  13. actually, they do have piano keyboards, & they do play notes as well as tweak the sounds out with effects. they even made some mistakes when they played sydney. & yes, minimal electronic is what they are all about...you have to put it in an historical persective - these guys were doing this back in the 70's & it was totally cutting edge back then. they are the pioneers of this stuff, & every electronic act since the 80s would list them as a major influence. i saw some of the euro mtv awards on TV the other night, & kraftwerk had these cool fluro grid suits on, lik
  14. saw them here in syd earlier this year. they were pretty boring live - exactly as described above -but i like their stuff & think they are important for the influence they've had on modern music. they are a bit of a museum piece these days. the viuals are kind of interesting, although very minimal. if they bring their robots along, it could be good (apparently the get them out for "we are the robots" but we didnt get that in Aus - the robots were doing another gig themselves, somewhere else...!)
  15. i like the 1 day ticket including lunch deal the best. you can be flexible, & im pretty sure we figured it was a better deal with the free lunch thrown in... better than a 3 dayer.. only catch is, you cant go night riding on the 1 day ticket.
  16. i hear ya davo i've actually been to niseko twice, done a total of about 28 days riding there, so im pretty used to avoiding crowds, & you'll rarely see me on the runs either
  17. Fatty, well spotted! edited now. doh. Davo, thats good news - if Hakuba isnt busy over NYE, then I cant imagine Niseko could be very busy either.
  18. cheers DB! u must be a burnt out old raver like me then huh? ;P what sorta stuff u like?
  19. thats fine, but only if you dress up as a pool cleaner ;P
