  1. Pseudo science nonsense. If you simply eat what a human, as an animal, is suppose to eat (not lots of raw meat!), and exercise regularly, you shouldn’t have any health issues. As all the nutritionists say, plenty of vegetables and fruit, grains, some meat, and yes Cheeseman, dairy products in small quantities. Drink lots of water. Obviously, some people have intolerances to certain products – gluten, etc. But that’s different as these are defined medical issues e.g. Coeliac/celiac disease. If you’re a chocoholic, splurge out on wine/coffee, fatty/salty/sugary rich foods, do b

My family is from the Northern Rivers - farming, cane cutting and fishing. Uncle owns land out at Emmaville, which is kinda in your area. (Sheep farming ... lotsa tin in the creeks but so far no sapphires!) Off topic, but how's the olive oil business in Oz going at the moment. If you

Dress error or not, I've seen plenty of blokes (mainly older ones) who wear both belt and braces. They consider it is added insurance in case one of the support mechanisms fails. I think that's unnece
  4. Complicated matter - both ends of the spectrum had a philosophical basis, both 0 and Infinity. The Indians were perhaps the first to properly discuss this, and are generally associated with the creation of 0 as a 'real' number. (There's an interesting TV documentary on this) (Funny how the consequences of ones history can ripple through time - modern India is notable for its computer science achievements, though without the 'discovery' of 0 some 2000 years ago we wouldn't have the binary language or computers.) From my early spherical trigonometry (survey) math days, Pi is a

  7. Yes V, they certainly have evolved since I remembered them from the 80's - severely coiffed leather clad gay mardi gras band ( ) to now, with complicated arrangements. Though, it's unfair to compare - they were young and the music was raw - which has some appeal in itself. I like both. P.S. I'm not a Depeche Mode groupie, just like all types of music ... except for rap ...
  8. I agree, though the results gathered from many multinational drug companies are also suspect - the real outcome usually eventuates after several years of a drug being tested in 'the wild'. Remember, there are failures with modern pills and potions too. Some affect individuals adversely. If it makes you feel good, then it's probably working - that seems to be the philosophy of all branches of medicine. It seems the only pill that is universally beneficial is Aspirin!
  9. In Oz most Brew Shops also carry distilling gear - it's not illegal to sell it, not illegal to own it, but it's illegal to make it! (Nice loophole that!)

  11. A work colleague introduced me to Fat Yak Pale Ale (on tap) - bloody nice drop that.
  12. Our family GP is Thai - a retired surgeon with a lot of quals. He's done minor surgery on me several times. He also does acupuncture and other such stuff. So I believe there is some truth in alternative medicines. Remember, medical treatment is wholistic - the use of several branches may assist where one alone will fail. Although I've never had it done, some friends who are into advanced martial arts do the modern version of acupuncture - with battery operated electrodes attached to the needles. This treatment seems to work i.e. repairing minor ailments.

Men who wear both a belt and braces are making a dress error - it's either one or the other, not both. Braces worn with cuffed trousers are also better than uncuffed, as they drape well and are therefore more comfortable when walking or sitting. Men's suspenders were used to hold up socks. The only 'person' I've seen wear them was Agent 86 Maxwell Smart on 'Get Smart'!

Would you call someone black, a 'niggar', because in your context you meant it to be 'nice'. Apologies if I have offended anybody with the above examples. RB, in that context it is offensive, though, if the person is Paki (not Indian, Sri Lankan, etc) then it's not offensive. Note: W

  17. I heard some time ago that McDonalds Corp promotes their management, and families, to consume their products - breakfast/lunch & dinner. E.g. if management eats it, it must be good philosophy. Unfortunately, being full of chemicals, sugar and saturated fats, it causes severe health problems. So, maybe the recent fatalities are linked to a combination of long hours, stress, and really crap food.
  18. Similar to you, I've got a new computer that is one step from being water-cooled. Found a game that will really make the cooling fans on the video/mother board cards work overtime: S.T.A.L.K.E.R 'Brothers In Arms' will also give it a good work out.
  19. Perhaps nothing to do with fuel prices - the down turn means people not holidaying as much = reduction in passengers. It's like giving discounted tickets to make it sweeter.
  20. Don't know the cultural difference in J-Land, but in Oz I find it totally inappropriate to give money - it's an insincere and cold way to celebrate the event. Mamabear - even though you got heaps of towels, you eventually used them, right? If I was invited and told to give money (or anything else for that matter), I'd either refuse to go or do the right thing and buy them the best alternative - a gift voucher. There are simply some events where giving money is not right.

  23. I simply don't see the competition here: McCain/Palin = too old, Palin is an uneducated hick from a back-water State. Most importantly, both represent the current administration! This last point alone should sound the death knell. Obama - young, intelligent, from his background he has a social conscience. Somewhat inspirational AKA JFK/Carter. Looks more towards getting domestic thing right and not being the global policeman. With the amount of non-whites in the US, and the fact that the Republicans have alienated many whites (e.g. Hurricane affected States, current loans crisis
  24. It was on TV last night - one thing their so-called investigative report omitted was the level of radiation you receive for each scan. I'd be really worried if I were a frequent flyer e.g. business person, etc. It seems the 'terrorists' have achieved one of their goals - make the West spend ridiculous amounts of money on the likelihood of a threat. Easier to forget the political correctness and just scan those who are descended from particular backgrounds.
  25. Briquet, I've used both WP & Word. No probs with either - particularly with embedding images (photos, tables, symbols, etc) Different functions to achieve the same thing. I do know it is laborious in Word, but it is easy enough.
