  1. Beer is usually located in the kitchen... doesn't make sense wasting all that time and energy walking between the kitchen and living room right? That's why I like Japanese kitchens.... because the kitchen is often IN the living room. Japanese efficiency at its finest!
  2. db, this is for you buddy: http://www.xs4all.nl/~richardw/nails.htm
  3. Thats two quakes this weekend!! wtf is going on? There was one saturday morning around noon, but the one last night was strong (5.1), and there was an aftershock.
  4. EnderZ made good points. I think it's a bit of an understatement to say our legal system isn't flawless. In America, if you've got the money, you can get away with murder. OJ proved that fact with the nation watching. About a month or so ago the New York "preppy killer" got to walk free after 15 years in prison. For those of you that don't know the case, the "preppy killer" was a young rich white guy from the upper east side, who was convicted for strangling some girl and leaving her under a tree in central park. If you took the same case, and changed the killer to a poor black guy
  5. UGLY?? I don't know what you're talking about. The mullet is the coolest haircut in the world.
  6. After all the redneck bashing.... I really feel like everyone overlooked the one great advancement that rednecks have offered to the world: The North American Mullet!
  7. Being obsessionally into sports - you just pegged 75% of american guys. How about real american traditions like Thanksgiving: "Let's celebrate the rape, pillaging and genocide our forefathers commited against native americans, wOOT!"
  8. 1 or 2 showers a day... most likely 2 a day in the summer. Where do you guys fit in that 3rd shower... on lunchbreak??
  9. no worries... like I said, he's just here busting balls anyway....
  10. Sure you might say something to someone who you knew well before the child was born, but I doubt you would trash the name after the kid was born, or if it was someone you didn't know well. dim?? Well, it was your son's name being trashed. If you take no offense... then hey.. thats you.
  11. I think mr.fantastic here is just trying to bust balls and you guys are playing into it. Think about it... would you ever say, to someone who just told you their child's name, "wow thats a stupid name," to their face???
  12. no offense to all you J-Drama lovers, but I think J-Drama's are so lame man... They're all super melodromatic, and portray japanese culture as being full of passion and romance, which couldn't be further from the truth. either way... I watch em sometimes.... for the chicks... of course.
  13. Passed out at a houseparty, woke up with a massive headache, next to puke, with no recollection of the evening before, and a permanent marker moustache and goatee drawn on my face. ....*sigh* how I miss those days...
  14. Redneck, as used in the states, can be pretty much any ignorant country folk. Danz already nicely highlighted some stereotypes for you.
  15. I'm considering getting a scooter like one of those honda zoomers. I see tons of people riding those things around Shibuya... do you think riding those run the same risks as riding a large/sport bike??
  16. Quote: Originally posted by Ocean11: There's one old Mac function I miss on my PC - being able to assign the amount of RAM given to a program. I can't find out how to do that on my PC, and it really bugs me. The beauty of modern OSs is that you don't have to manually assign RAM to programs!
  17. Definitely... Ovo was dope, and the owner is probably one of the coolest people i've met in tokyo. I wanna do some more exploring and find other little hidden spots like that.
  18. I went to high school in the states with one of my japanese buddies... His name is Yusuke, but every class i've ever been in with him, teachers called him either "yoosook" or "yoosookee." Everyone including all his friends ended up calling him "Yuskee." Even to this day he still introduces himself to english speakers as "Yuskee." It's gotta suck to have people mangle your name up your entire life. No wonder there are so many half-kids with the names Ken and Hana running around.
  19. This is an explanation of evil "scalar waves" from the panawave website: http://www.panawave.gr.jp/setumei/setumei_1.html I also heard they staged training runs for capturing tama-chan this weekend. Truth IS stranger than fiction!
  20. I don't know if any of you at J companies have seen this but theres a guy who left my company over a month ago, and he still shows up for work everyday to hang out in the office and surf the net.
  21. Psyched to see it, but I expect gaping plotholes and a few hollywood one-liners that'll have me rolling my eyes. It'll still be cool as hell. I read they pioneered a few new sfx techniques on this one. Can't wait to see...
  22. Alot of the coolest bars/clubs in tokyo that i've been to are places that someone had introduced me to, and are usually the kind of places I would never have found otherwise. What and where are your favorite bars/clubs? I'm a big fan of Milk in Ebisu to name one.
  23. Bush could barely make it through a hand holding session with that alien Larry King, let alone Hard Talk. That dude is awesome by the way.... I love when he rips into polititians when they start to dodge questions. Too bad a journalist like that would never be able to have a career in the states.
  24. Ahh.... a cult that says they're "not a cult" but doomsday is near and all "non-members" will perish... and the whole tama-chan thing.... fantastic. You can't make this stuff up.
