  1. that's pretty harsh viewing I live with 4 Americans and when they got to europe they had no idea about what the rest of the world saw in regard to the war. when they got back from paris and had seen european coverage of particular events they were shocked at how "manipulated" the US coverage of same events was. people need not die anymore
  2. surprisingly Mr. Matthews we use both grams & Quarters, 1/2 and Ounces. Grams for less than 1/8th ounces then imperial..we still know a Q is 7.2 g though
  3. dont't be bitchin' on Star Wars now. a whole generation is gettin pissed at u now
  4. O. In my opinion there are 3 places to look into. 1. Hakuba Valley: Nagano Prefecture. This area has everything from 'Park only' to Powder to multi-lift passes, it is accessable by Shinkansen from Tokyo (to Nagano then bus to Hakuba) and many of the SJF readers go there. 2. Yuzawa Region: Niigata Prefecture. As above except I found there to be less boarders and apart from Naeba, the terrain isn't as challenging as the Hakuba Region. Shinkansen to Echigo-Yuzawa then bus to resort. 3. Niseko Region: Hokkaido. Most Gaijin there, best powder although it came early this ye
  5. havent heard anything till now.. surely Tom Hanks isnt going to play his bread and butter role again..we've seen him in apollo 13, saving private ryan, castaway and for me he just doesnt cut it anymore. different actor and im up for it though
  6. MBS Razor. a freestyle type 4W board. bought it at the X-Games a few years ago and it rides everywhere. in another post someone was saying you cant ride them on the road..not true, these are like glue on the road but without brakes it get really scary. i was going to bring it to japan but they weigh to much and couldnt find enough info on the net about where to ride. if you still want to go to fujiten??(you said you were going there in may i think) this summer i'll be u for the ride.

  10. im australian.. looking back i think the same as u just said but i think it had to do with the culture shock, the no white people (lived in Shizuoka city to begin with) thing and being in total awe the japanese way of life. even though shizuoka has a high % of brazilians i think i had tunnel vission turned to max.
  11. id be happy to eat the thai rice. im not the biggest fan of japanese rice but i'll be more than happy to hear the rainy season has finished when i get back on saturday. its been a glorious euro summer hasnt it "BagofCrisps"
  12. havent had any similar experiences with US..more japanese thinking aussies are english. for japanese people they associate mostly with US ideals, lifestyles etc and maybe arent exposed to as many other accents. when i fisrt arrived i couldnt tell the difference between a japanese and brazilian person. i just hadnt been exposed to it before.
  13. i made it quite a lot up that way this season but didnt get the snow i was hoping for..seemed that it fell midweek or when i went elsewhere. got to cortina twice, nice lines to be had, thanks for the info..tsugiaki?? was ok for something different and happo on the far skiers left of the mountain had some nice powder too. south side of 47 was the pick though. had my girlfriend there alot of the time so did a lot of teaching along the way to.
  14. where have airlines inadvertantly sent your bags to? 1.barcelona instead of melbourne 2.osaka instead of narita united decided to check my bags through from toronto to london via chicago and forgot to put anything on the plane.
  15. if you yre ever in desperate need to get to europe and cant find a flight try austrian airlines. ive used them twice, once from dusseldorf-vienna-tokyo and london-vienna-tokyo, and the planes are empty. sure, like db said if u miss the meal, u get onigiri but the positive is u get 3 seats to yourself. united are the worst by far.i will never fly with them again. 3 strikes and your out. british also due to their sneaky tricks. they sent my bags to barcelona instead of melbourne. when i cracked the S**ts they eventually gave me a free flight..the catch, i had to fly full f
  16. wasnt bill just a 'front' for president. i heard that it was hilary who ran the country and it was her idea to have the monica thing..ratings approval increase and all that. he was a smooth talker though.
  17. just south of canada is stuck in 'old school' imperial time. i still cant understand why people dont use the metric system for everyting. things divisible by 100 are so easy.
