  1. Sometimes a beer or two is good, but if I've had a really hard days riding then I'm usually a little de-hydrated (I have a camel-bak but its only 1 ltr) so a lot of water, some TV, lots of stretching and a good nights rest for the next day is best. This way your legs can recover and if it's a powder days you can ride/ski hard again.
  2. I think you missed the issue there Pedro. The country/region needs rebuilding because Bush and his cronies decided it would be a better place without Saddam. The fact that they lied to the world to convince themselves of the justification is reason enough to not want any part of the reconstruction process. They made their bed now they must lie in it. Is it justifiable that every US person be held accountable the injustices of a select few, a select few with no justification for attacking another country except for the propaganda created by people employed by those select few. It see
  3. England didn't look to flash today against Samoa.. Do I sense a repeat of NZ in the 1999 World Cup, failure as favourites?
  4. Have you ever been to Hotham Snowb-freak? in the last couple of years there have been so many places opened up that you can hike for ages. the best thing about Hotham is you ride and then hike back to the village. lots of people look and then think..nah, i cant be f*!%ed walking out of there but usually it takes less than 30 mins to walk out. if you get a chance take a look
  5. i'm not sure about skis, but with boards you can have a maximum of 6 base grinds. i'm also not sure about everyone else and how long they keep their boards/skis but most manufacturers build them to last for 60-80 days before they lose they spring and pop. if you get a new board look at the height between floor and base when its on the ground. then look at it halfway through the season and again at the end. most boards will have lost 80% of that spring if you've ridden 40+ days and less if you ride powder all the time because of the force exerted on the board by the snow. Once they've lost t
  6. What about 'The Big Lebowski' and 'Cheech and Chong-Up in Smoke'???
  7. it will be interesting to see all the same. i'm already bored by all the one sided matches that we've ahd recently and the UK press going crazy about the 'in the bag' the've already got. bring on the semis i say..
  8. Oh..thats why they have big hair, designer everything (generalisation i know but there are more designer labels in Japan than i've ever seen), an attraction to look super brown/orange (Shibuya,Shinjuku and Harajuku) via excessive suntan studio time and spend too much time applying make-up wherever is possible ..train,restaurant,fast-food place. Maybe its where i used to live but i think Japanese people stand out more than any race of people i've ever seen. saying that i like the individualism of the younger crowd.
  9. Hugo- Dark Blue..important occasions Dior- Dune..for the evening/dinner etc Davidoff- Cool Water..during the day. Why don't many Japanese wear it Sachiko?
  10. I didn't realise how lo-tech i was until i was trying to remove virus' from mc laptop. i hadn't used it for a while and discovered that it had been infected with the 'blaster' and 'worm' thing virus'. my friend here spent 4 hours trying to clean my system for me and i had no idea about most of it.
  11. i got out of hotmail because of spam and havent had one since.
  12. What other scams have people been upto in their days? I confess to scaming my way from one side of Japan to the other for 1400 yen..by Shinky
  13. kamo, you forgot about the loss to the Wallabies in the semi-final so I don't see the possibility of an Eng v NZ final..
  14. There is one major problem with them doing 7,8, and 9 and thats that in '91, Lucas allowed the release of books continuing on from 'Return of the Jedi'. There have been, possibly, 40 books written upto 22 years after this point in the Star Wars timeline. This in a sense eliminates the problem of using Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher again because there have been stories built, with stress on the continuation and realism (in terms of reference points to past happenings, battles, births and deaths ect) to allow Star Wars fans the opportunity to experience other writers takes on the universe.
  15. Arnette's have a history of glue problems between the lenses. Often when it's really cold and you go inside to warm up for lunch or something, the glue when it goes back to a room temperature doesn't keep its stability very well, especially on the outer edge of the lenses. This often leads to air getting in between the 2 lenses, resulting in fogging all day.
  16. Every day for sure..goes on before I walk out the door. I think I feel good when I smell great..and my g/f loves it
  17. He just broke the second game open..in the 1st inning. 3 run homer to centre field. he's now batting over 300 for the post season, has the most RBI's for the yanks and should be recognised as the 'rookie of the year'.
  18. Got one, cant remember what it is except it's shiny and silver. They make such a difference going through trees. Everytime you hit a branch and at makes that crisp 'whack' sound you know your head is safe. Love the gum trees too...
  19. 3-4 times a week with a good gym/cardio workout, especially on the legs (running, cycling or weights) and stomach/back should have you ready for the season..even if you start now.
  20. Having only ventured to Arai once last season I was a little disappointed. Like Fattwins said, for 5000 you want value for money and I wouldn't call Arai value. Having recently read the article about the reducing numbers in the Yuzawa region, I think it's important to accomodate those who want to use the facilities. It is after all a mere exercise in management..people will rather spend their money, be it 500 or 700 less at other resorts because everyone is suffering from the effects of the Japanese economy. It's the law of demand- As the price goes up, the demand goes down. This issue needs t
  21. If your worried about boards not lasting the distance, try the neversummer range. 3 yr warranty, P-Tex sidewalls (indestructable), V-carbon not length to length (torque through the turns). I'm up to No.3 and it's not that my boards have died, I just upgraded to suit conditions. Unfortunately you can't get them in Japan but US,Canadian and Europeans, Kiwis and Aussies can at home. They're about $US450 which is expensive but you can be rest assured you won't have a problem with these boards. http://www.neversummer.com Have a look at the construction link and decide for yourself.
  22. Never tried but one of my mates is one of the Austrian Nordic-Combined Coachs for the Ski Jumping. I watched him in the Czech republic jump 180 metres in warm-up. The maximum in the Olympics is about 130ish but you also only have a 120m run-in where he had over 140 m run-in and perfect wind. the record is somewhere around 220m
  23. 400ha is definately wrong. That's the size of a medium Aussie resort and the only thing that compares in size to Shiga is Perisher Blue. It's 1250ha or there abouts.
  24. do you wish you were the 'cheeseman' or something? Just curious about the posts
