  1. school lunch for me here - today was harumaki teishoku - spring rolls, salad, some kind of fish)tara i think?)spaghetti and miso. wasn't too bad for a change. I'm locked in a school so there's not much choice in where i eat anybody else geographically challenged?
  2. I went there once about 5 years on a date. All i remember about it was the huge shopping mall and the sega joypolis which is like a giant video game arcade with rides. I guess it was alright but i'm not sure i'd ever go back there - loud, lotsa people and constant spending. good if u like that sorta thing tho and/or bored on a sunday afternoon.
  3. I haven't been posting for about a month but everytime i come back, this thread is always here I feel special now funny, my musical taste has done a full 180 and I've gotten back into trance in a big way. might be discovering shoutcast and it's ten gazillion trance radio stations had something to do with it. I put it on in the background and play video games - great way to zone out for a few hours ender&co: tell me more about The Get Up Kids. I've heard their cover of The Cure's Close to Me and thought it was pretty good. I remember there was another punk band that did
  4. excellent advice, listen to the man. If you score a new pair tho - that'll be 3 pairs of goggles u'll have. If u get 3 different lenses too, talk about flat light/bright/overcast ownage! BTW - Where abouts in Perf r you from Spook? My folks live in Applecross.
  5. About 5 years ago, an Iranian guy wanted to kill me (long story). Since we both knew where each other lived, it was a little unsettling, especially cos he was always going on about how "connected" he was. in the end he was all hot air and not hooked up after all - he fled the country a few months later when it got a little too hot for him (related to why he was giving out death threats). Some good did come of it, I moved away from Tokyo and up into Nagano where I picked up snowboarding. I agree with everything snobo freak says here - if ya really worried, go get sum advice about it
  6. Here's an option that doesn't seem to have been mentioned yet - if u haven't scored a board already, try buying it from the yahoo japan auctions - here's a link for a bunch of boards over 160 cm. Get whoever u buy it off to post it out to where-ever u're gonna end up. From my experience, the postage is usually between 1000-2000 yen, which isn't too bad. The boards r usually left over stock or second hands, so they're not too dear - if u don't mind older gear, yahoo all the way is what i say. http://list4.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/2084032371-category-leaf.html anyway, i hope that help
  7. hey dancingbarefoot, Almost missed this thread, anyway my recommendations software wise are Reason or Fruity loops - they're both quite easy to use and have heaps of plug ins. These two r good to start with if u haven't used music software much before. as for hardware, i'd recommend the korg er-1 for the beats midi linked with a roland mc307 for the basslines, chords and leads. suffice to say the drums on the 307 suck but the ease of editing and tweakability make up for it. These 2 machines have the most bang for ya buck of all the low end gear IMO. lotsa 2nd hand ones lying ab

  11. Quote: There was the most amazing pigheaded behaviour from customers and also from staff. oh yeh. many fond memories of stupid people. I remember working in a chinese restuarant, people would ask "does the beef blah blah blah have any beef in it?" then again I remember clearly the people who were nice. There was a dude that tipped me 5 dollars on a delivery altho it isn't the custom to do so in Australia. I was 20 and man, that 5 bucks meant so much to me.
  12. Hey Hide, Quote: I got many also saying "re: thank you" and "wicked screensaver" and "your details" and like this. that sounds like the sobig virus. Whatever u do, don't open the pif files that come attached. apaarently there's a huge wave of it making the rounds right now - http://edition.cnn.com/2003/TECH/internet/08/22/sobig.virus/index.html
  13. good to see everybody refusing plastic bags. I loathe the damn things!
  14. well, it's good to see that OCN is doing something on their end of things and catching those e-mails with suspicious attachments. as for the e-mails with a mind of their own sending themselves out, that definately sounds bad. I don't know much about mac viruses, i was studying for the MCSE (Microsoft's inhouse degree), microsoft, as u know is ibm-based, so maybe i could have helped u there. Then again, is u'r mac PC emulating? u can always have a look at www.macvirus.com, it might give u a clue as to what it is that's going on. Sorry, i'm not much of a help.
  15. read Eric Schlosser's "Fast Food Nation" for the second time recently. In it he talks about the vast numbers of people who have worked for Macdonald's and other fast food chains. I worked in various places for 6 years, pretty well until I got out of uni. Just wondering, who else here worked in fast food. What were your experiences? did u ever mess with the food? The worst thing i ever did was steal food when i was hungry. anyway, i'm interested in hearing other people's stories so your posts will be most appreciated.
  16. Quote: my email client was even trying to send emails to other places automatically. that's pretty bizarre. sounds like u could be infected with sumthing and it's sending out mails to infect other people. what did ya mean by "worm related mails" ? were they like, spam mails offering to remove virii or were they mails with sumkind of evil attachment? well, if it bothers u, u could always do a scan using a free virus-scanner like AVG(www.grisoft.com). Doesn't sound like the blaster virus that's going round. It doesn't replicate itself thru email. My wife has an OCN account too but she has
  17. ooh..wouldn't mind a kayak. Went for a ride in a mate's canoe, tandem with my wife and it was a blast. Plus there's a nice lake about an hour away by car. Too bad I don't own a car, heck i don't even own a tv. man, it's gonna be a long summer
  18. http://www.sparklet.com/~royce/trams/hair/ dunno how true this is, but it made me laugh. Should get ya mind off the heat for a while. = )
  19. man, ya story makes me even more paranoid than I already am. I'm glad none of ya stuff got nicked. I live in a crappy apartment with chipboard walls and and my front door is made of aluminium, the type anybody can open if they force it(i pay 3.3 man for the place, so it figures). I think i'm gonna gather up all my valuable things like my bank account book, hankou etc and lock them in my desk at school.
  20. It's almost 2 in the morning and I'm sitting at my comp looking at Yahoo auctions. Is the heat making u wanna buy things or is it just me?
  21. I think it's gotta be aliens with too much time and a knack for perfect shapes.
