SKI replied to Dokumanju's topic in General off-topic discussions
REM's classic, in a major key Strange! -
At Sahoro you can also play that old chestnut 'Pretend you're in Japan' game. Difficult, for sure, but fun for the kids.

Niseko Weiss prices?
SKI replied to lastrocker's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
No doubt if not enough people are willing to spend that much on it, they will have to bring their prices down. I reckon they'll probably be ok though. More than a few people with stupid money go to Niseko. -

You probably deliberately missed out the all important "Compared to most other places....". And I was simply responding to your comment. -
Trip to Japan
SKI replied to pulce88's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Perpetrated by who? Compared to most other places, it is gaijin town. It is a fact. If you want to go a place where the people are mostly Japanese, choose any place other than the 'big names' - especially Niseko. -
There's still a lot of local loyalty going on with elderly here. You know the conked out shops you see in town centres. When that generation goes and all that remaining loyalty with i, they certainly won't be able to survive. I get the feeling lots of those were run almost like hobbies anyway.

The Ski Patrol slackcountry thread

Wasn't an afterthought. You really are burdened with this hugely inflated opinion of yourself aren't you. It's mildly amusing. -

There are less gaijin at Kagura than say the big H, N or MtG. And they are more noticed. -

Thats simply not true. Can't think of many people at all that I 'have a go' at. In classic 'Go Native' mode, why don't you back that up by showing me! -

Hasn't Go Native said on may times in the past that he basically just doesn't give a crap about anyone but himself. It's hardly a new line. -

rider69 knows everything, so it shouldn't be much of a surprise at all. I would suggest that these peasant-like 'average riders' actually seeing 'higher beings' ducking ropes at their favorite resorts and not knowing anything about it, perhaps thinking it is ok to follow them rather than know that they are being douchebags, is 'more dangerous' than having just a bit of knowledge on the ins and outs of the situation.
