Skiing under lifts the POLL
SKI replied to peaker's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Just to answer some of your questions. Quote: SKI why do you post here? I post here because I want to. Quote: do you do it to take all the fun out of everything we do? Er, no. I love to have fun on the mountains. I just feel fairly strongly on the topic of irresponsible people doing what they want when they want just because they want. With no regard to anyone anything else. Quote: You have done nothing for the snow side of this forum and then when this topic come up again you are like the first to post. I didn't know we had to "do som -

Quote: SKI here is the one thing I dis like about you. As if I care in the slightest. Am I supposed to repent or something? I'll refrain from posting what I dislike about you. Quote: My comment about the Capt. was more in line with the fact he doesnt go around attacking others on here like other people. Where is my attack? I may not like you, but you do amuse me with your posts, opinions and dreams about yourself -

Quote: I don't see much danger of skiing under a gondalo or tram, but a chairlift is another story. The danger here is that if there is too much snow someone in the chair might be able to hit you on the head with a pole (it happened to me once) or When you get air you can end up in the chair. Still I'd say go for it if the conditions are good and the patrol isn't looking (or too slow to catch you) So lets get this right...... >>>>> A gondola or a tram is ok. But a chairlift is not really ok. Coz someone might get injured. If there's too much snow. Or if you get air i -

Maybe some people are. I would have thought that to be hardly worth stating. And so....? -

Oh I see, just posting pictures doesn't make that very clear now does it. More likely than not you also feel the same way about the responses in the poll. Anyway, your sheep pictures in response to my comment ---- still hilarious. Well done! I'm sure you're the real rebel. I'm impressed with both your humor and your attitude! So cool -

And what on earth does "Ive known the capt. on here a while" actually mean? Is there a point? Is he usually as hilarious as he has shown himself to be here with his 3 sheep posts in response to him not liking the current poll status? Perhaps he should change his handle to Baby Stag, it would seem more appropriate given what has gone on above. -

Oh no, he's taken two of his sheep pictures down. What a shame, they were just so witty. -

Well done!!! (Edit: the above was posted in response to a 2nd "sheep photo" that Captain Stag posted. He has since deleted it and a third one that he had also posted below.) -

A very, very mature response that was - pretty much as expected from you. -

How funny (and at the same time, sad) it is how some people are so selective in the rules and laws that they decide to follow and abide by, and those that they don't - purely according to their own personal opinions. -

SKI replied to jared's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Of course I understood his post. I did not say that his point was about jumping off lifts. In fact, if you could read/understand better, you might see that. Asking too much, no doubt. -

SKI replied to jared's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
You can take part in whatever debate you want to. Perhaps you endorse idiots jumping off lifts - 'if they want to'. After all, 'if they want to', then it should be allowed. And even if the resorts "rules" say that people should not do that, then sod that - because 'they want to'. That second to last sentence sounds like it should be in the "cheesy slogans" thread in off topic! -

Tell me. Apart from the poor English, what exactly is backwards about that? -
I love those dudes, just watching them swim about is a real relaxing joy. A house near where I live have a pond with quite a few big dudes in there. He keeps it all in immaculate condition, the whole place is beautiful. Let's hope they can be a success.

I didn't get one but I know someone who did. He's from Tokyo and doesn't have any connected friends (or so he tells me!) -
Great vid. Telleboy, where were you patrolling?

Good weather riders
SKI replied to fukdane's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
I used to be out there whatever the weather. As I'm getting on a bit now, real strong winds and heavy heavy snow might persuade me to take a soak or do something else instead. -
Really really really old gear

Quote: My parents have some old wooden tele skis mounted on there wall at their cabin. I wouldn't dare ski them. Toque - are those worth much then? Would love to see them. -
How much snow piled up?
SKI replied to The Black Bear's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Bulbfish, convinced yourself then? I'm sure you'd cope with the shovelling if you had ski runs 5 mins from your place. I know I sure would! -
No problems here too, thank god.
