  1. For very cheap nights out on the piss you cant go past karaoke, can you? I mean where else can you drink all night, and even sing a little bit if you want to, for 2000yen? Meanwhile, I have had many bad experiences with the evil shochu they put in the sours but still... gotta say that it is cheap for a night out on the town. A karaoke room can even double as a love hotel! Definitely a lot cheaper as well. Sweet as!
  2. Snurfer... I dont know if we met in Niseko. I was there this year for a few weeks and the last two years in jan/feb for a month or so. I am a chalet resident. I was riding a 68 supermodel up there. By the way though, Im not from woywoy! Im from Manly, Sydney. "AUSSIE GO"... no wuckers mate. Far out mate! Its a tough one to write the way we aussies talk but I'll give a go. No probs... Well, Im from Straya and I love to surf and snowboard mate. Its the shit! I live near the beach and I also love to down a few schooeys down the local and try and chat up a few sheilas now and again. Sometime
  3. Me name's woywoy and I'm from straya too mate. Wheres yuz all from? I might be heading over nippon way next year sometime... looking forward to it. Has been a while since I was there.
  4. SNowboard_freak... I have ridden in japan 3 times and it goes off. The amount of snow they get is crazy and the backcountry is epic. Enjoy!
  5. I have wondered about the CIR position too... is it just a AET position in disguise? I mean they all have to teach english anyway, dont they?
  6. Lake Manly indeed. I checked it before work today and despite being tiny it was infested with mals. When there actually is swell though those mal riders seem to disappear... funny isn't it! Snowboard_freak... have you ridden in Japan or anywhere overseas before? Ive only done Japan a few times and NZ once. I would love to go to some of the smaller resorts in Canada though. I am sure Whistler would go off too but I would rather be in smaller, less densely populated snow areas. I dont really care if the place has a pipe or park, just if it has a big snowfall!
  7. Definitely a great part of sydney that you are living in snowboard_freak. But how crazy are the prices in Sydney at the moment? It's like "Am I ever going to be able to afford anything even relatively close to the beach???". THe erosion at south curly is bad hey. It's amazing that those sand dunes havent just totally disintegrated as well. Sometimes I think about what it all would have been before all the development? So much nicer... but oh well, it's a city now so we can't expect much different. Surf has gone flat again it seems. Anyone else who lives in Sydney or close by???
  8. I think the best I will able to manage this season is a new pair of thermals... if I'm lucky that is! More likely to be a new pair of socks of two though...
  9. taliskier... have you done the course? I really am keen on doing an avie course too. How expensive is it? With the number of gooses riding round these days with snowshoes and poles strapped to backpacks just because it is seen as "cool" I can imagine it being pretty expensive.
  10. Yeah, is there many AET's out there? I have a mate in Gunma at the moment who is an AET and it seems they get heaps of spare time so he is really looking forward to Tenjindaira this winter. Met another guy in Hokkaido last year who did the full 3 yrs on the JET program and loved it. He rode sooo many days each season too so I suppose that is why! He even supposedly scored a car and house! I actually am thinking about doing the JET program and if anyone has any views on it or experiences I would really like to hear them. Cheers everyone
  11. snowboard_freak... Im very jealous of your view! That is like where I would dream of living! It's pretty pricey up that way though isn't it? I surf Curly most of the time when it's smaller too. Less backpackers and more room to move. No matter how long I surf there I dont think I will ever be able to say that I like the infamous "curly backwash" though. Really depends on the banks at curly. There can be times when it's super fat even on the low-tide and other times when there is just perfect banks all along the beach. I surf Manly when curly is closing out but... usual NSteyne. Snowhaus.

  13. akibun.... really? Tell me it's not true! Have you j-girls out there ever had gaijin boyfriends? But akibun... you said you were "excited" by the idea of a gaijin boyfriend? Why is that?
  14. Snowboard_freak... Im a surfer and ride a snowboard. I got out there for a wave this morning actually. Was fun... hasnt been waves for a few weeks so it was good. Just out at queensy. My uncle lives at Jindabyne so I spent quite a few weekends down there this season. More so towards the start of the season when there was more fresh on the ground but I had a few great days actually. Not deep pow like in japan or anything but just really nice high speed runs over like 10-15cm of fresh. Was fun... cant wait to go riding again soon.
  15. Lama... there definitely is something about paris. Just the feeling of being there. I dont know... its hard to hit the spot with it but I really like the place. My hometown is sydney (despite using "woywoy" as my username!) and I think it goes off. I have had lots of friends visit from OS and lots have said things like "I wish I never had to go home!" on like their first day here. I mean we lots of beaches, a decent sized city and still even today quite a lot of unspoilt bushland. What more can you ask for? ... Probably a few bigarse mountains. But then again you cant have everything, can you!
  16. I think that it is the subtle nuances in the japanese language that make things tricky in a cross-cultural relationship. Even if one of you is pretty competent in the other's language, there are just so many subtle nuances that take years and years to learn. Getting over the language barrier is often a tricky one indeed. I have had lots of fun in the process though!
  17. Higuma... you have to love women in short skirts and boots. I dont know what it is about them but they drive me wild! Even in the strongest snowstorm in winter these chicks will be in their short skirts and boots! Very very hardcore indeed.
  18. deebee... the national park is awesome. Shame I dont get down that way more often. Snowboard_freak... Im just up the road from manly in seaforth. Get out for a wave a few times a week. Mountains and beaches, I love them both!
  19. Deebee, snowboard_freak... Aussie snow is not the best but at least we have some. Think about having to travel all the way to NZ just to get a fix of the white stuff! We get a few pow days a season, some seasons being better than others. Snowboard_freak... where are you? I was surfin winki and bower last week too!
  20. Alcohol definitely helps you do anything... especially things you wouldnt normally do sober. So no new bars opening up there this winter? I heard there was something going on up there but I guess it is top secret?!
  21. I couldnt care less about the snow up there... just the bars! Thats what matters! Isnt that what you go to the snow for? To get as blind as you can every night you are there?
