  1. "A crack team of cybernauts will form a rapid response internet “war room” to track and respond aggressively to online rumours that Barack Obama is unpatriotic and a Muslim. As he gears up for his general election fight against John McCain, Mr Obama and his chief advisers are aware of the danger of such rumours, amid polling data showing that a significant number of Americans believe he is a Muslim or are suspicious about his background. Such doubts were a factor in his poor showing with white, blue-collar voters during his primary battle with Hillary Clinton."
  2. If all the people who apparently WANT Obama to win actually vote, then perhaps he can.
  3. Leave a legacy of international diplomacy for tackling Iran. Shucks, so we're not going to bomb them? Quote: President Bush has admitted to The Times that his gun-slinging rhetoric made the world believe that he was a “guy really anxious for war” in Iraq. He said that his aim now was to leave his successor a legacy of international diplomacy for tackling Iran. In an exclusive interview, he expressed regret at the bitter divisions over the war and said that he was troubled about how his country had been misunderstood. “I think that in retrospect I could have used a different
  4. I wonder how much snow Arai got this last season as Myoko got a ton. Anyone been to those buildings of late? Are they maintaining them all?
  5. I did not know that. I don't suppose my 3 year old stamps would be worth much though.
  6. Can't remember where it was but once I saw a whole bunch of koi like that. They were almost flying some of them! They sure got big mouths.
  7. Remember this story? I have heard it is repeating itself with someone else now.
  8. Unanswered Posts is cool as is the way threads with new posts in them since last visit stand out. I like that.
  9. Got me a Vaio notebook. Well pleased. I will never get another dell.
  10. Milk in triangular cartons. Was I dreaming that??
  11. Interesting. I'll tell you what, it would drive me insane if we suddenly had babies in the office. Quote: An unlikely trend is emerging in the US: a growing number of companies are allowing parents - usually mothers - to bring their babies into work. But is it possible to get anything done? A very sceptical Zoe Williams attempts it in the G2 office, with her six-month-old son in tow. http://lifeandhealth.guardian.co.uk/family/story/0,,2271715,00.html
  12. I'm doing all right so far. Somehow it seems wrong that hayfever appears when there is still so much snow around. It should not be allowed.
  13. This story all ends up a bit better actually. They gave me $50 credit (not a huge amount of course but it will cover my calls). And the call center wasn't in India, it was the US. I ended up speaking with 5 people, all easy to understand accents
  14. SPACEBOY, I have a telescope with me here. Nowhere near powerful enough but on a clear night I love taking a look up there. Very interested. Wish I could check out a huge facility and see whats going on.
  15. Quote: theres always that feeling of 'maybe my call didnt get directed properly and i am just waiting eternally in some kind of technical vacuum' Exactly! Quote: ignore all the voice prompts and don't push any buttons. they'll repeat the menu a few times , then come to the conclusion that you are an absolute numpty and i find i get through to an operator fairly quickly No, not like that. I was ust being put in a queue. Pushing buttons did nothing. I tried again when it was the middle of the night US time and got through after 5 minutes.
  16. I need to speak to some technical support people and am currently on hold in the queue. Question is, how long do I wait? I'm on 10 minutes now. I'm asking myself how long before I give up, even if it might be closer as the minutes rack up. Problem it, it's to the US. God this is annoying.
  17. Weekdays, I usually set the alarm for the latest time. I don't even know if it has a snooze!
  18. Friend in the UK always gives at least 10%. I look on thinking he's an idiot. He looks on probably thinking I'm Mr Stinge.
  19. I just saw Cloverfield and really enjoyed it. Stardust was good, didn't get much noise going on but a good movie. Next up, Blades of Glory - a bit of culture
