  1. Quote: Is the snow THAT bad that you can't go out and have fun? For those planning trips in March and beyond, maybe yes! But I believe that 3 meters of snow will fall in the coming week, so we should be just fine.
  2. Ah the quality Spectrum keyboard. Hmm, I think I might prefer my noisy Dell!
  3. Anyone have a preference? The default Dell one I have on my desktop is beginning to annoy me - very noisy and just seems cheap, so I'm thinking of getting a nicer one. I really like the style of some of the Vaio ones where there's space between each key and they are elevated less than usual - looks stylish too. Any other recommendations?
  4. If that were the reason (the last one) then why is it pretty much only Japan that is 3 months later and the vast maj. of the world gets it October/November? I doubt also that the Japanese marketeers would see it so necessary to see how the rest of the world reacts (any more than any other market anyway)
  5. Not seen any myself, but the bagofcrisps identifying strategy is genius! I read Les Miserables when I was younger, very big book and hard going for me but there is a very good story in there.
  6. I don't usually watch CNN in the evening but that night I was watching it. First of all there was the first crash and they did the breaking news thing saying it was a small plane maybe an accident, and we know what happened from there. I think it was just before 9pm Japan time, and I remember eventually going to bed around 3am. So I watched the whole thing as per CNN live right from the beginning.
  7. I love pork pies. They can be shit yes, but get a good one and it's hard to beat.
  8. Classics. Is that from the chocolate world episode? "Mmmm, free goo!"
  9. I agree Nozawa is a great place, I'm sure that will fit your needs. You can also travel just a bit to get to Shiga Kogen or Myoko as well from there.
  10. Going to visit a friend who lives in Gifu and wondering if a trip to the snow (or whatever is left of it) would be worth it. Anyone in that area or been skiing there lately?
  11. After moaning, didn't you just answer the question? My "normal mode" is a Hi and thanks. I never write just a name.
  12. Here's what Kagura said on their blog today: 天気は最高!雪質最高!ゲレンデも最高! If the snow conditions are now "saikou", as they say, does that mean that they are at their best possible? I really do not think so. That's just one exampl. Some resorts are renowned for lying, exaggerating about conditions and just plain forgetting to mention when things aren't good, but it's just really annoying. I just wanted to say that.
  13. I used to think of Japan as "exotic" and people back home often say it must be like that. I suppose it was in a way when I first came here but it has now lost it's exotic-ness which is a bit sad really. I suppose unavoidable if you live in a place for a while... Where's exotic for you? I'd have to say for me now it's some Asian countries I still haven't been to - eg. Malaysia, Thailand.
  14. So what do you think for the next President? Seems that everyone is going for a first this time round. I hope Hilary wins and Bill is the First Man.
  15. The few times I have been out this season with the general lack of snow I have really noticed some different shapes out there... less snow means that the shape of the slope is more pronounced and less smoother out than usual, don't you think? My friend last week was a victim of that. He was a bit too confident on a run he thought he knew well but was surprised at a bump that wasn't usually there, lost control and is now in the hospital with a broken leg.
  16. I'm ok but my Japanese friend was getting a bit too confident on some ice last week and broke his leg.
  17. I wish I had gone overseas on a long holiday this winter, would have been better than what I've experienced here.
  18. I wouldn't go if someone paid me the cost of getting there tomorrow. I like the days just after a storm when it's nice blue skies.
  19. I really hope they find these people. (Got to say, why anyone would want to go out in the weather today beats me. Heavy rain/snow, incredibly strong winds. It doesn't sound appealing to me at all. I think even if I was on a planned few days trip that I couldn't really get out of, I'd still do something else like take an onsen).
  20. I'd rather watch other people. Watching myself is a bit of a let down So I hope some of you other guys get those cams and filming
  21. Quote: They didn’t get a deal made on a song they used and now they have to re-edit the whole movie’s soundtrack Better planning next time guys!
