I have a fairly cheap JVC multi region as well. Its ok, especially with US discs, but UK Pal discs aren't perfect. No real problems, just wobbly lines at the top and bottom at times. Is that a common problem? Are these things actually legal?

Is it possible to drink too much? (And I don't mean alcohol). I saw in another thread db talking about his very small liquid intake in a day. I'm the opposite. I drink tons of water, cold tea, some coffee, fruit juice every day. Hmm.
