I thought I would start a new thread for some Zao photos from the coming season. Until yesterday, it was looking like this But we now had first snow and looking like this

Reporting from Zao - snow here too! Cold today and very windy. Those trees up top will have got their first coating.

Usually hopefully by late November - lets see how the snow is this year!

Glad to hear that Mamabear. With hot weather here I am jealous of snow place!

I hear bookings in general are down for Zao again this year. People just are not spending or committing to spending their money. Perhaps if we see brigher news in second half of year maybe fall month suddenly see better news.

I like the photos. Hokkaido really has distinct scenery from most other region of Japan I feel.

I never had a cheese fondue meal. When I look at descriptions, sometimes it says only bread into cheese/wine but sometimes potatoe and also meat. I want to know what might be best or really authentic one as I would like to try it. Did you have one? Can you tell me about it? Thank you

Cheese fondu. There was a place in Zao last season that did it but I do not know how authentic it was because I never had a real one.

When you go next time be sure to hike up the opposite mountain to the lake. It is beautiful region and so close actually to Fukushima city.

You should come see the Okama in Zao. In fine weather it is impressive sight I think.

They are all good size for me on my 2 computer.

Yes it is not direct train journey at all. Probably shinkansen via Tokyo is easiest but not cheap.

I need ramen after a party. Ramen and gyoza.

I prefer living in a cooler place (like Zao!) or Hokkaido where we don't need to live in an air-conditioned bubble. Obviously not everyone can do that, but it is one of the benefits!
