  3. Nice. Lodging in Japan is expensive so being able to stay with your friend will take a big chunk out of your expenses. Food and booze is comparable in price to the US. Maybe a little more expensive now if you're going with dollars since the exchange rate is so terrible. I was hoping to head there this winter, but it's not likely given the exchange rate. Still an off chance I might go there in late winter or early spring to see a friend, but no riding unfortunately. You'll have a blast, it's a great country.
  4. I want to say that America planned on switching to metric in the 70s, but of course it never happened. I'd assume the reason was that it'd cost to much money to switch, etc, etc. And of course the longer you wait the more expensive it gets.
  5. Had several great days in Niseko. Best snow day I had in the States was at Baker at the end of last season. Very solid.
  6. Baker and Whistler both got good dumps as well. Mitch nice. Did you use a pair of rock/beater skis?
  7. Snow on the ground at local resorts around here Still a whiles til opening though.
  8. Ah don't be too jealous Mitch. Your webcam's looked alot better than mine. When does the season usually start up round SLC? Typically mid-Dec around here.
  9. Snow level is supposed to drop down to 4000 ft this weekend and a storm coming through. The higher peaks at the local Seattle resorts should be getting 1-2 feet.
  10. Ugggh, actually I don't think this is going to work out. I don't think either board is wide enough for my clod hopper size 14 feet
  11. Nice, thanks for the quick turn around on the info ippy. Looking at some other reviews they described the Omni as a more mellow version of the Undisputed, which sounds similar to your take on it. I'm not a big line charger and only dabble in slack country so Omni seems like a better pick. I'm hesitant though, I picked up a Rider's Choice BTX which I've only had 1 season on so I'd feel guilty getting a new board so soon! Evo is actually local to Seattle, so I may be able to order it and return if I change my mind
  12. Damn, you're making me want to get one now as well. I'm 6'4 220 so I need a longer board which narrows it down to Undisputed or Omni, both at 167cm. How would those boards stack up? Evo says they're both Freeride, with the Undisputed being more stiff. So tempted!!!
  13. This one is 4 letters instead of 3 but... There's a neighborhood in Seattle named South Lake Union. They recently built a trolley for the area and they were deciding what to name it. At first they decided on the South Lake Union Trolley...until they realized that it would be abbreviated SLUT. They changed the official name but you can still buy shirts with tag lines like "Ride the SLUT" and "I rode the SLUT" They're building another street car in the gay neighborhood of Seattle so people were lobbying to name it the BUTT. Somehow I don't think the city will go along with that one
  14. Yeah Mitch, it's a pretty brutal exchange rate for you. The first time I went to Japan I got about 120 Yen to the dollar. The second time it was closer to 100. Last Feb it was low 90s I think. Even worse now, it def makes things much more expensive. I hope you'll be paid in Yen! And ya know it'd be nice if you get a good exchange coming back as well. I was thinking of going again this year but the combination of a low exchange rate and a big La Nina winter for the Pacific Northwest means I'm gonna stick local. Oh and another Park City trip at the end of Dec
