A cloudy start this morning. No cm of snow is being reported by the ski area up top.

It's not a very inspiring morning - cloud, fog, spots of rain.

Yesterday afternoon the ski area said they had 5-8cm of fresh snow on the upper areas.

In their update at 3pm yesterday the ski area was reporting light rain at base and light snow up on the top areas, along with 1cm of snow.

Light snow this morning on the mountain with the ski area reporting up to 5cm on upper areas.

Listen to this... the ski area was reporting 30cm of fresh snow up at Yamabiko yesterday afternoon... and another 35cm this morning.

It feels colder this morning! And later in the day wet turned into snow overnight.

There's sun and clearer skies in some places in the region. For the moment we have some cloud over us here, but the sun just starting to break through in lower areas. It feels like it is going to clear up.

It's sunny! Well, down here at base anyway. Higher up there is still a lot of cloud and snowing.

More snow, and then some more snow! 56cm of fresh reported by the ski area since yesterday morning on the top Yamabiko area and up to 45cm being reported from lower areas.

You can tell when it's a bit of a mad weather morning... everyone's favourite green vegetable, Naski, is sitting it out and not making an appearance on the Hikage base area.

It feels like we have been told to expect snow the last few days and it just hasn't turned out how the forecasts said.
