Well, after some very nice snow falling yesterday post-report, we have clearer skies this morning and a bit of wind.

Another dusting of snow on the ground now and maybe a few cm on trees here and there and on the ski slopes.

Two ski areas in Shiga Kogen are now open.

Kumanoyu ski area will open on Friday (21st November).

A dusting+ since the last report, but there is some updated news to report... unfortunately it is about delayed openings.

We have another dusting of snow, a few cm around base areas.

Good morning from Shiga Kogen and welcome back to the reports for the 2025-2026 winter season.

Sunday 25th May 2025... last day of the official ski season here in Shiga Kogen.

The lift at Yokoteyama will finish up the season tomorrow, Thursday 22nd May.

Today is the last day of operations for the Yokoteyama Number 2 lift.

Yesterday was the last day of the season for the Kumanoyu ski area.

We might have finished Golden Week and be in the second week of May, but it still almost feels like the tail end of winter.

We are about to start the famous Golden Week holiday period.

There has been a dusting on places where it first accumulates, and I feel I can just about report 1cm. (It has since gone from roads outside my place).
