Sunday 25th May 2025... last day of the official ski season here in Shiga Kogen.
It is almost 8 weeks since many of the ski areas in Shiga Kogen closed for the season, but the lift at Shibutoge has managed to remain open until today. I probably say this every year, but the spring season always seems so very, very long.
So, that's it for the 2024-2025 season.
The ski season may be over, but Shiga Kogen is, of course, popular through the year. Hopefully we will be treated to some pleasant weather during this 'green season', though even up here we have to expect heat during summer. (Thankfully not nearly as much as down in the valleys!)
I plan to be back in November to start up reporting for the 2025-2026 season.
