As our PE department was crap, they 'volunteered' people to compete in sports to which they were not especially suited. The most terrifying thing was to be nominated for the high-jump and have to attempt it with no prior training whatsoever. I was throwing the javelin - for the first time - and my Home Economics teacher was adjudicating. I managed to get the javelin to spear the ground almost between her feet, causing her to leave the field in a state of deep shock. It was quite a long throw, but definitely a foul throw too.)
