kintaro 0
How about Yasukuni shrine? You might get a chance to see Koizumi.
base40 0
Is that a comment?? or is it really a good place to be?
scouser 4
I generally hate crowded places and so would avoid anywhere like that big time.
oblivion 5
One place to avoid is popular bars/clubs. Just way too many people, unless you like waiting hours to get a drink and not being able to move. I was in Roppongi a few years ago and it wasn't much fun.
IIIII 2
Do bars and the like charge more on NYE??
akibun 0
I think best place for New Year is ---- HOME.
nagpants 1
Me too - home is a good place to be at new year, something just doesn't feel right somehow when I'm not at home.
slow 0
How about these places around Yokohama on NYE. Motion Blue Yokohama - This place has count down jazz concert on NYE. If you have a seat near bar counter, you can see Yokohama Bay Bridge from the window. It's very romantic and good atmosphere. (Though You don't need to go there on NYE.) Yamahita Park - You can hear boat whistle celeblating for New Year. Kamakura - There are some temples you can ring bell and then go to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu for Hatsumode. If you can stay up all night on NYE, you should go to Jogashima (Miura Peninshula) for first sunrise. I like to go to local beach on New Year's Day and see Fuji san from there. It's very cold but sky is very clear and Fujisan from there is amazing!
Siren 0
Motion Blue is nice. It is a sister joint of Blue Notes.
slow 0
I like Motion Blue much better than Blue Note. Jz brat in Shibuya is pretty good, too.
A lawyer 0
Motion Blue Yokohama must be heaving on NYE right? I like the place, not sure about such a busy time though.
slow 0
When I went to Motion Blue on NYE fer years ago, it wasn't so busy. Because my favorite trumpeter kondo toshinori isn't so popular in Japan any more... More popular musicians are going to play this year.
Weegeoff 0
Slow Have you ever heard of a trumpet player called Maynard Ferguson or Harry James. They both go way back. Maynard is still doing World tours He is a high note man is range is phenomenal.
scoobydoo 0
Near where I live there's a good izakaya that is traditionally the place to be on NYE. Excellent atmosphere, everyone knows each other, the drinks are on the master-san (not all night!) - great place. I'll be there this 31st Dec.
slow 0
Thank you, Weegeoff I checked their music. Kondo's trumpet is more spiritual. That's why I like his sound. Some people might think his sound weird. Acutually, he is weird.
