frannyo 2
I heard on the news that "This Year's Kanji" is 災 Who picked that then? What's yours? Mine would be 喜
Markie 0
I suppose the choice of 災 is quite reasonable given what has transpired this year. However, judging from your choice, frannyo, I guess you had a pretty happy year then. Congrats! I don't know what made you happy, but in Chinese, 喜 (one of several kanji meaning happiness) is usually associated with love, marriage or birth.
sakebomb 0
If I am correct something more positive would be nice!
oblivion 5
It's supposed to reflect the year and the news and what has happened, not "be positive". As such, it seems rather appropriate.
sakebomb 0
Ahhh! In that case it's perfect. Thanks Oblivion.
mattlucas 0
What happens if next year is even worse? This year will seem like peach pie then
echineko 1
Don't worry, there are many kanji to choose from if bad thing happen.
echineko 1
2 kanji for me 楽 and 悩
mattlucas 0
To me it seems pretty negative to dwell on the bad things that have happened. Sure there were some bad events this past year but there were also some pretty nice things that happened as well. But my mind is drawing a blank
pie-eater 207
It's not some kind of gee-up for the end of the year. It's not "dwelling" on something. It's not supposed to be a gambaru positive message. It's just simply supposed to reflect the year in general, and I think it seems quite appropriate.
Yuki's Passion 1
mine would be: 嫌らしい 助平 変態
Roger's head 0
嫌らしい Is that you or someone else? (And have I even understood the meaning correctly? ) If we can just take an adjective and use the kanji, then mine might be 疲
Karnidge 2
Mine would be 楽 Maybe.
