MrsBates 0
Hi I'm always puzzled about the choice of music they put on at ski resorts here (and the fact they do at all!) Yesterday at Naspa we were treated to what sounded like an 80's pop compliation CD. We got Culture Club, Duran Duran, Foreigner, Human League, Wham, Hall & Oates, Van Halen etc. (We are not particularly fans of such music, but my husband and I grew up with lots of that music). It was a real blast from the past for us. What have you been treated to on the slopes this season so far?
bushpig 0
you were lucky (in a relative sense) that it wasn't J-pop! That really shits me to tears when places do that.
quattro 1
Had some motown up at Higashiyama about a week ago. Glad it was not Jpop
thursday 1
Still prefer the sound of silence

dale#1 1
Just before Christmas is the worst with the non stop Mariah Carey and Xmas cheese. Followed by Jpop. I remember last year can't remember where it was but we got a full album of Metallica.
charlotte 0
I think I would leave!! I used to like going to Arai where it was all peaceful.
keba 0
Music's OK in the park, but I prefer the sound of skis in snow on the rest of the mountain
charlotte 0
I love it when there is no sound apart from nature and my skis. It really spoils it when there is music blurting out at high volumes. Objection!
big-will 7
Me too. Not that many places you can get that though. I wonder how the "new" Arai will turn out?
scouser 4
At the weekend Ishiuchi we were treated to COVER VERSIONS of Western 80s pop. It was quite grim.
surfinsmiley 0
At Naeba I got Snoop Dogs version of an old ?Marvin Greaves? ... I really want to Love you... but Snoops version was just a little more explicit...... Really made me realize that nobody actually understands any of the lyrics. Thankfully up at Kagura it was all quiet on the western front.... Nothing but the sound of digging trenchs in the snow.... just the way I like it!
SirJibAlot 0
At Niseko Higashiyama, we had Hawaiian music, some kind of talk radio, some kind of bizzarre english lessons, and a sprinkling of j-pop.
tregster 0
"We got Culture Club, Duran Duran, Foreigner, Human League, Wham, Hall & Oates, Van Halen etc. " Damn that sounds bad, but a lot better than the constant J-pop at the hills in Akita. It seems there's one official "Best J-pop for Ski Hills Album in the World Ever 2007" album that is distributed to all the hills here and nobody is allowed to play anything else. Wherever you go it's the same and the CD starts over roughly every hour, for the whole season!! Who ever thought this was a good idea, can't we just have peace to enjoy the mountains. number9 0
I like skiing to jazz when I just wanna cruise and not attack the mountain. Anyways, there's a lot more to Japanese music (even Jpop!) than what's on the Oricon charts (Top 40 equivalent). http://www.slate.com/id/2158151/?nav=ais
