mattlucas 0
SnowConnection I'm feeling like a dork right now You have stumped me on the mountains. I know we are looking at Tateyama but which bump is it? That's Tsurugi on photo right right? I havn't been on the east sides of these mountains
mattlucas 0
This is one of my favorites from this season. I really like entrance pictures

mattlucas 0
Backcountry skiing shot on Yakedake. Gifu/Nagano border. More of them in my trip report
SnowConnection 0
Toque, yes, the rightmost mt is Tsurugi. (I learnt a slangy word "dork". No. You are cool.) Have you been skiing on the big slope of Asahi-dake, Hakuba ? (There are many Asahi-dakes in Japan.)
mattlucas 0
I havn't done any real backcountry on the east side of the north alps. All of it has been resort backcountry. There looks to be some really cool lines though.
SnowConnection 0
There are two famous BC routes based on Renge Onsen(蓮華温泉) lodge. One is a day-round to Yukikura-dake (雪倉岳), the other is a round to Asahi-dake(朝日岳). Both are for advanced skiers. The later is too far to have a day-round trip for the avareges. I HAD average walking speed on 40's, but I took two days with staying at a snow cave before Gorin Kogen(五輪高原). Now, I need two nights staying at snow caves. Please you challenge a day-round trip between Renge Onsen lodge and Asahi-dake peak next season. The period is limitted the late half of April just after Renge Onsen lodge opens, untill snow condition is better. In summer season, it is a one-day hiking course from Renge Onsen lodge to Asahi-dake lodge which is open.
mattlucas 0
Have you ever skied any lines off of Tsurugi SnowConnection? In your picture above there are 2 large couloirs coming off the peak. Are those popular decents?
Oyuki kigan 0
I think i finally got some here. Lets see... euro carves are making a comeback! Suitcase air! Stupid! Fun! Switch! its my last day fo the season, and yes thats a Kemper neon green longsleeve. I've never seen this trick before, so i call it a bertleman, like the laybacks old-school sk8ers and surfers used to do And this is what i look like on a sunny warm spring day in Whistler
