muikabochi 208
I was thinking of not posting this this year, but then realised it's one of the pre-season traditions and I really should. So, the rice is on the lifts at Ishiuchi Maruyama and I went to take a few pics. Humans not allowed.
Tubby Beaver 209
I was wondering where this was!! It's certainly a sign to signal that snow season is fast approaching....hurrah!!
@tokyo 14
Good to see it. Another thing ticked off!

1 4
Did we answer the question - how does the rice taste?
yoroshiku onegai shimasu 2
Next up.... colours. Then.... snow!
muikabochi 208
Yes, it had to be done. Always fun seeing the rice on the lifts like that on a fine day.
pie-eater 207
They should branch out and put other vegetables on there at different times of the year. Negi and carrots would look good on the lifts. They could be sold at the bottom when they come down.
Chriselle 158
Damn,,, these years seem to fly by don't they??
pie-eater 207
They sure do. It's kind of scary isn't it.
jacko 3
damn. looks like a chair lift turned into a tiki hut. All they need is a bar on each chair with tiki glasses full of some sort of pineapple and rum combo and you'd be set to go - have a slide, drink. Repeat all day. Could be a winner. Chriselle 158
Just don't try to limbo under the safety bar....
Chriselle 158
They sure do. It's kind of scary isn't it. Life is truly cruel isn't it..? The less you have left... the faster it goes. I'm going to slap that "God" guy when I see him for that one..
onehunga 26
The speed of time is all in the math. For my kids, one year is one sixth of their life. That surely is going to go a lot slower than one year for me, which is one fiftieth of my life.
grungy-gonads 54
I think the year goes the same speed for us all onehunga. Perhaps pie-eater could investigate.
pie-eater 207
I will investigate.

muikabochi 208
LukeLomond, hi Not common, in fact I don't know anywhere else that does it. Though they may exist.
Metabo Oyaji 71
So how does one actually purchase some of this rice? And perhaps more importantly, does anyone make sake out of it?
muikabochi 208
It's very difficult to get hold of Metabo Oyaji. There's not that much of it and with it's fame and all.... Don't know about the sake, though (just a guess) I doubt it.
SKI 15
I want to try it!
Hokkaidough 4
Make it into rice pudding like my grandmother used to make. Very sweet. Evaporated milk.
Space Indaver 1
I just find it weird to see the lifts existing over land that isn't covered in snow.
Nurse Lunt 0
Excellent! How long does the rice stay on the lifts?
