Teachers - how much time do you spend in the classroom?

Recommended Posts

When I was teaching, which is now some years ago, I was in the classroom daily from 0900 until 1530. Averaged 1.5 * 40 minute lesson free each day, with a 20 min morning tea break and a 40 minute lunch break.

That was Secondary school, and I was required to patrol the playground each day from 0730 until 0900 (or at least be available for students to call on if there was a problem).

Dunno what that equates to in hours lesson time, but I DO know that Primary teachers here (even with Relief from Face-to-Face [aka RFF] time, which is, from memory, 1.5 hours a week) are in the classroom for far more time than secondary.

4 hours mon wed fri.

And in thailand classes are an hour long, so no mucking about. They break for lunch at 11.30 though which is far more civilised :)

Granted though...that had to have been one smelly ship.

And the slave drivers....?? They must have been pissed off right? Surely not a "Join the Navy.....see the world...be all you can be" type of job. :sj-lol:
