big-will 7
Isn't nonmihodai (drink all you want) great? And generally pretty cheap too. Tubby's comment in the other thread got me thinking - is it a Japan thing? I can't think of one time back in the UK when I have been able to have a nomihodai, apart from at a house party! Tubby Beaver 209
yep, I do salute Japan often for this institution!! Bars would go out of business very quickly back home if they had nomihodai, I reckon.
pie-eater 207
Note to self: make more use of this institution
SKI 15
The most I have had at a nomihodai is........ 10 jokki. Over to you!
big-will 7
The most I have had at a nomihodai is........ too much to count! I paid for it the following week as well. I was as good as out for about 4 days.
Tubby Beaver 209
far too many to count.
@tokyo 14
It's sometimes difficult to count isn't it, especially if it's bottles and those small glasses.
sanjo 2
Had one on Friday night, didn't go overboard but probably downed about 6 jokki-worth. Fun night, good yaki-niku as well.
pie-eater 207
Bars would go out of business very quickly back home if they had nomihodai, I reckon. For sure. They'd be dried up within an hour after people consuming 10 pints as a warm up. And that's just the ladies.
Tubby Beaver 209
3 mates visited me a few years back and I took em to one place that had a 1000 yen nomihodai with no time limit. We went there pretty early in the night and basically sat almost until closing time drinking.........we managed to put away 95 jokky's of beer between us. As well as other assorted girly-drinks in between just to mix it up. There were more than the 4 of us, with a couple mates kind of dropping n for a bit and then leaving.....I reckon probably a total of 7 or 8 people overall helped to put away all those drinks. That place did NOT make money that night!!!
Thundercat 60
All you can drink booze is a legal impossibility in Ontario... it's probably a good thing too!

Tubby Beaver 209
yeah....we weren't counting but they give you a detailed receipt at the end....we were then a bit disappointed that we didn't make
big-will 7
It might be an age thing, but as much as I like the nomihodais, I think I would often prefer a tabehodai!

Though I can imagine the disappointment at not hitting 100! You need to 'let's challenge' again.
Chriselle 158
Ah....those were the days. Lately, I've mellowed into a couple nice glasses of red wine. Maybe 3 or 4 if I'm feeling rowdy.
grungy-gonads 54
Me too. I can still do the drinking bit - though to a lesser extent, but the next day becomes a real problem.
cheeseman 1
How about a Cheese and Wine tabe-nomi-hodai? Doesn't that sound the best?
NoFakie 45
The days of necking six pints in ninety minutes to get me money's worth are probably behind me too. For tabehodai, the eat-all-you-can Chinese buffet you get for six quid on a lunchtime back home can be pretty good.
joshnii 2
Is wine ever included in a nomihodai? Can't recall hearing of one of those.
