muikabochi 208
The numbers (of skiers/snowboarders) for Yuzawa and Minamiuonuma in Niigata are in, according to the local newspaper today. All numbers are relative to last season, until end of March. Yuzawa town total - 1,928,000 - down 23.5% Minamiuonuma city total - 962,040 down 15.9% Going down every year lately but these are the lowest numbers since bubble. For the whole of the month of March, so including the first normal 10 days, numbers down 64.2%. Naeba - down 225,000 people Kagura - down 26,000 people Yuzawa Nakazato - down 21,000 people Gala Yuzawa - down 17,000 people Ishiuchi Maruyama - down 56,000 people Maiko - down 45,000 people Joetsu Kokusai - down 50,000 people ---- Apparently after the late-ish start, February was generally pretty decent and March was also starting off decent until the events on the 11th. Lots of snow this year so a normal run through until the end might have seen numbers hold up fairly well.
