tokabochi 9
Today was the first day of the Tokamachi Yuki Matsuri. Tokamachi is where I live, in Niigata. It's pretty famous - after Sapporo one of the big snow festivals. So I'm told. Lots and lots of things going on around town over the next few days. Lots of sculptures around town. By the time I got to the main area where they have a huge big stage, it was finished and covered up so couldn't take pics, but here's a few from around town this evening. pickled mushhead 0
How long does it take for them to sculpt them things. Particularly like that space-themed one. Looks great.
iiyamadude 6
Quite quickly actually. I saw one being made in my town, not as impressive as those, but there were 5 guys working away at it for a day. Interesting to watch it come together actually.

JellyBelly 1
More snow towns should get things like that going, they look really cool.
tokabochi 9
Always disappointing once the Festival is over as they go round destroying them all as they post some sort of 'danger'. Unspecified danger, but that's what I have been told!
