big-will 7
Thanks. Does sound like a bumper year.
Slippery Jim 65
Mammoth got only 15.2 meters this season, of course that was at the base of the mountain...oh, right, the base at Mammoth is 2,400 meters so it's hardly fair to compare.
Go Native 70
If only we had mountains up over 2,400m in Hokkaido! Would be some permanent snowfields I reckon.
tokabochi 9
Now that would be sweet!
tokabochi 9
How long does snow usually last on the top of Yotei, Go Native?
SantaCruz 0
The interesting thing to me is that California was supposed to have a warmer and dryer year due to La Nina. But Mammoth apparently had their best season in ~40 years from what I've heard. Just goes to show - El Nino and La Nina are always wild cards.

Slippery Jim 65
Well, 2,290 at Asahi-dake ain't too far off, GN. I know I've seen snow up there well into summer, and I've skied at Senjojiki into late June. But none of that is powder. Niseko in January to late February has some of the most reliable powder conditions I've experienced.
Go Native 70
Snowing heavily again up this way. Mike may get a few more powder turns yet!
