Having a wizz in Nozawa up against a 3 metre snowbank, I was quite impressed by what 3 metres of snow looks like all piled up. It's a bit like looking at geological time too - you could see what havoc the rains wrought in the bottom two-thirds.

I'd say 'yes' to your question.

Absolutely!

Last year ended abruptly...I remember hitting nozawa at the end of feb and watching half the snow disappear over the course of the weekend...it was sad...

This season has been mind-blowing...bring it on!

Way up! Went to the local "just a ski-jo" in Tokushima(Ikawa) yesterday on a BIG hope. 20cms of the dry stuff fell on Fri/Sat and I prayed that the casual Sunday sliders wouldn't be clued in. And a great day had. Blue skies, cool air, nice sun, good snow, few bodies, cold beer - Ah relaxed spring skiing. \:D Can it last here???

I hope you notified the ski patrol to pick up those few bodies before they thaw out.

Looks like I'll be off up to Shiga Kogen next weekend , looks like the best place right now in the central chunk of Japan. Supposed to be much better than this time last year.
