big-will 7
This made me laugh. Quote: Sven-Goran Eriksson has asked Thaksin Shinawatra to finance virtually an entire new team after overseeing his first training session at Manchester City yesterday. The former England coach is alarmed by the parlous state of the current squad and wants to bring in as many as 10 players before the transfer window closes. Did he not know who the team was before signing up/
soubriquet 0
It's Man City. He might as well have gone to Everton, or had LOOSER tattooed on his forehead.
rach 1
I'm actually looking forward to that aspect of the Premiership this time round. It will be fun to be able to laugh at Erisson without feeling slightly strange about it.
2pints-mate 0
Papers are full of Man Utd going for Carlos Tevez today, taking their summer spending to 200 BILLION DOLLARS!!!!!!! !
BagOfCrisps 24
They are obviously "buying the Premiership", hey, 2pints?
scouser 4
Quote: Sven-Goran Eriksson, who is poised to become the manager of Manchester City, believes he will need to sign at least 10 players to bring success to the club. The guy is incredible. As for Tevez, if they get him their shopping this summer will have been mightily impressive. Whether that familiar Premiership Gel does it's job or not remains to be seen but... We got Torres anyway.
Accrington Stanley 0
Got a feeling AS will "swoop in" and get Tevez before United.....
giggsy 0
Don't want to get too excited as it may well not happen but if we do get Tevez... well I just can't wait for the season to start!
2pints-mate 0
Looks to be a lot of confusion and complications for that Tevez move, but Sky Sports are announcing breaking news ManYoo are poised to sign Carlos Tevez, according to Sky Sports News. According to initial reports, the striker has agreed to join the Premiership champions on a two-year loan deal with an option for a permanent move after that period. The station speculates that Tevez will be paid 」4m a year, and officially confirmed as a ManYoo player after completing a medical at Argentina's Copa America base.
Tubby Beaver 209
West Ham say that they've had no contact about Tevez moving, he is still their player and he is expected to report for pre-season training after the Copa America.......there may be trouble ahead!!!
pie-eater 207
Quote: But Joorabchian's lawyers say the deal has progressed with the "knowledge and permission" of the Upton Park outfit. Yes, lots of trouble ahead! Sure seems like a messy situation, though if I remember United didn't move on Tevez last year as they saw the trouble involved so I would have thought they assessed the legal situation and saw it legit before moving. pie-eater 207
More Quote: Magnusson's comments were swiftly contested by Kia Joorabchian, who brokered the deal that brought Tevez to England. His lawyers said that the player had spoken to other clubs with "the knowledge and permission" of West Ham. It is understood that Joorabchian has a letter in support of his claims. Quote: However, a legal battle looks likely before the future of Tevez, who is in Venezuela at the Copa América, is clarified. Magnusson's statement appears to have come amid pressure from the Premier League, which has demanded that any Tevez deal be done on a club-to-club basis, not through the player's handlers, Media Sports Investments and Just Sports Inc. In April West Ham tore up their third-party agreement with MSI and JSI after being fined £5.5m by a Premier League independent disciplinary commission for illegally registering Tevez last August. The league believes that means he belongs solely to West Ham and that the club must receive a fair market fee for him but the Joorabchian camp do not accept that Tevez now has a contract with West Ham. They did not consent to cancelling the agreement and do not see why West Ham should profit from any transfer. It is understood they brought Tevez to Upton Park on a one-year loan with the option of a further three-year contract which the club have not taken up. A source close to the talks said: "It is like getting into someone's car, tearing up the log book and then claiming that you own that car." High drama before a ball is kicked. ShinyDiscoBall 2
Footie agents are evil. How they can justify getting millions for effectively just getting footie stars to go to clubs they generally want to go to anyway is beyond belief. (Lucky bastards).
BagOfCrisps 24
There must be lots of kids now being asked "what do you want to be"? First answer footie star, second answer (if they're no good at footie) footie agent.
giggsy 0
Quote: Peter Kenyon has been staggered by United this summer. The Chelsea chief executive said: "I'm astonished at how much they've spent. "We've worked our way through our own list of targets, but most haven't cost a penny in transfer fees. "Splashing out huge amounts is no guarantee of winning titles. We believe in the team we've got here, and we do not want to go around spending £100million every year. Looks like the Tevez thing will be going on for a while.

scouser 4
Quote: Leeds United have been sold to Ken Bates (that's for a third time, if anyone's keeping count). Administrators KPMG have decided that Bates' offer is better for the club than the two rival bids. Which presumably means that the Inland Revenue will be taking Leeds to court to try to get the money they are owed, and Leeds are in deeper trouble than ever.
