BagOfCrisps 24
Is there a law for drinking and cycling in Japan?
kintaro 0
I believe public intoxication is technically illegal but well, you know how that goes.
misorano 1
Bicycles are classified as keisharyo under the road and transport law, which makes them a vehicle. Penalty- Less than 3 years in prison and/or under 500,000yen fine.

minus 1
I have cycled over the limit (zero?) myself more than a few times. Naughty.
lin 0
keisharyo - isn't that what the small "k cars" are??
mattlucas 0
Shit If I'd known that I wouldn't have ridden home instead of driving all those nights. And here I thought I was responsible There were some interesting rides that I can remember and quite a few that I can't
misorano 1
keisharyo means small vehicles. Keijidosha is the small cars. I've had a few too many and riden home quite often. Remember one night heading to a girlies place, for a little late night action, and went straight thru a T intersection and plowed into a rice paddy full of water. I was wearing my only suit. However the story ends well, as only it can in Japan. Imagine showing up covered in crap, smelling like a brewery and still getting in the door. Not only did she put me in the shower, but drove around to my place the next day to pick up some clean clothes while I slept it off.
slow 0
Frozen margarita after a long ride tastes sooooo good. Safe ride after drinking and don't forget to wear your helmet, guys
fukdane 2
Oops no helmet for my bike.
kkk 7
If someone was cycling over the limit (which is zero, right) and caused a crash? I know that sometimes the driver can be held responsible even if it wasn't really their fault. Right? Had a few beers, not sure if I'm making any sense.
slow 0
But drivers don't get hurt or killed by the cyclist accident. You are the one who could get hurt or killed at your worst. Maybe this law is protecting cyclists.
